The Arrow And The Song

(H.W.Longfellow)

I shot an arrow into the air
It fell to earth,I know not where,
For so swiftly it flew, the sight
could not follow it in its flight.
I breathed a song into the air
It fell to earth, I know not where,
for who has sight so keen and strong
that it can follow the flight of a song.
Long, long afterward in an oak
I found the arrow still unbroke,
and the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.

Untitled

I want to live
and not to die!
I want to laugh
and not to cry!
I want to feel
the summer sun,
I want to sing
when life is fun.
I want to stretch out
friendly hands
to all the people
of other lands.

It is one thing to propose, another to execute

Belling the Cat
Long ago, some mice had a meeting to consider what they could do to outwit their enemy the cat. They discussed the merits of many plans. At last,a young mouse got up and said that he had a good solution to the problem.
'our greatest danger is the sly manner in which our enemy approaches us.If we could receive warning of her approach, we could easily escape from her. I suggest a small bell be tied around the neck of the cat. In this way we always know when she is coming,so we can easily run away.'
Everyone thought it was an excellent plan. But at that moment, a wise old mouse got up and said, 'that's good but who is going to bell the cat?'
The mice looked at each other and nobody spoke. Then the wise old mouse said,'It's easy to suggest impossible solutions, but it is one thing to propose, another to execute.

Secrets of speaking in public

 You could be one of those lucky people who seem to be naturally good at public speaking. So you were born with this ability, It's great. But if you dislike speaking in public and you have to do it, you must be prepared well. You can learn to speak effectively in public by going on courses and reading manuals. When you are in public start with asking questions. The second tip- It is easier to pretend to be somebody else when you are speaking in public. You can assume a 'public speaking image' that has nothing to do with your real self.Besides we all know that humour works well in public speaking so decide to tell a few jokes.
To speak well, there needs to be a balance of impact between speaker, message and audience if one of these elements overpowers the other two then the performance will suffer. The speaker's main consideration should be the audience, when we are in audience we make two important decisions about speakers- do we trust them? have they authority? and do they understand our problems?
Speaking in public is something anyone can learn to do.So Good luck !!!

English as a world language

Today, when English is one of the major languges of the world, it requires an effort of the imagination to realize that this is a relatively recent thing- that in Shakespeare's time, for example, only a few million people spoke English, and the language was not thought to be very important by the other nations of Europe, and was unknown to the rest of the world.English has become a world language because of its establishment as a mother tongue outside England. People who speak English fall into one of three groups: those who have learned it as their native language; those who have learned it as a second language in a society that is mainly bilingual; and those who are forced to use it for a practical purpose- administrative, professional or educational.
