Gadjah Mada University Opera Campus Crew 3rd Meeting
Wednesday, 10. December 2008, 22:56:15
hohoho, Actually I was not in a good mood on a few days before. My OS X Leopard got corrupted because of something that I still can't figure it out until now. And I have to reinstall it and lost all my data, include my lovely photos that i took lately (that i haven't backup yet) and my Thesis proposal. Sweet isn't it? Haha...but it's Wednesday! Time for Gadjah Mada University Opera Campus Crew (GMU OCC) to meet... And suddenly I got my mood back again!
So...here are the reports
We met to talk about 2 major things. Which were Opera Mini Party (the seminar that I talked about on my older post) and also the progress of Opera Lab Challenge @ Computer Science Department @ Gadjah Mada University. So, lets recap the first topic! The Opera Mini Party will be held next week on Wednesday December 17th 2008. And how was the progress? Before I came to the meeting, me and Aul (Evangelist coordinator) printed the poster. Here it is :

So the publication of the Opera Mini Party (OMP) will be started tomorrow (thursday), we will stick the posters on the busiest spot on our Campus, and also make some fliers. And we talked about the rundown of the "Party". We will split the time into 3 big sessions. First session is about Opera's Overview, it is about Opera's history, Opera's Market Share and also about GMU OCC. Megan will do the talk for this session. And then the second session is about Opera Mini 4.2, this is the main agenda of the event. As I said in my older post, we will talk about all of the cool things of Opera Mini 4.2, plus we will held some demo for that. And we will share about how to run Opera Mini on the desktop via emulator. So, we can browse with "opera mini style" on our desktop. I think it's cool! And in the end of the session we will do some demo for Opera Mini installation, both on the Cellphone, and Desktop (via emulator). The Geeks speaker team will do this session (They are Luthfi, Agung, Budi, Aaron and Mizan). After that we will have some discussion, and close the "Party" with our last session. The third session is about Opera Desktop Browser. It's only 10 minutes, so this is only to trigger our participants to come again on our next Seminar. Because GMU OCC have already planned about a Seminar about Opera Desktop Browser and the Web Standards maybe on early 2009. In this session we will introduce some cool features of Opera Browser 9.6 and also version 10 Alpha!
Oh, and one thing that I almost forgot... We will also prepare some Laptops as a little download centre for the participants who haven't install the Opera Mini 4.2 on their phone yet. We are working to download some of the Opera Mini Installer for some popular Handset brands in Indonesia, so the participant can copy it straight to their phone from our local database. And we will also prepare internet connection if they have to download it from the Internet. They also can copy te emulator (because it is also free and open source), so they can try everything that we discuss on the "Party" by themself. This is a free session after "Party".
We also made a committee for the D-Day. This committee is temporarily made, I mean if we have another event next time, we will always roll the position so everyone can get the experience from it. That's all the report from the OMP. Next we talked about Opera Lab Challenge (OLC).
The OLC proposal have been approved by the Chief of Computer Science Department and also the Dean of our Faculty.
The only problem left is about talking to the Lab Coordinator for the technical things to install Opera on our Lab. Unfortunately, our Lab Coordinator wasn't on her desk lately. She went outside of the city to did some works. So, we have to wait for her to comeback to Jogjakarta.
We already tried to talked about it via our Chief of Computer Science Department. But, the result was the same. We couldn't met him, because he wasn't on his desk. Everybody seems so busy lately.
So maybe the OLC won't fit the schedule that we already made before (because of some delays). But we will try to do it as soon as possible to fulfill the January deadline. And generally we've already manage the legal aspects and the bureaucracy to do the OLC on our campus (by made our proposal approved). And the rest is about Technical Lobbying.
So that's all folks!
Maybe I won't post the picture of the meeting. But maybe I will if someone ask me to do so.
Wish all the best for GMU OCC!
And the next meeting is on Monday December 15th 2008
After that we will have the GR of OMP on Tuesday December 16th 2008
