Netscape 8 demo skin

As a demonstration to show what you can do with Opera I created a skin looking very similar to Netscape 8.
But as I didn't want to do too much work wink only icons visible in Netscaps default setup are customized. Because of that you should always use this skin with the toolbar and menu setups provided.

screenshot

Installation:

  1. install menu setup

  2. install toolbar setup

  3. install skin

To avoid seeing the bugs:

  • Disable "panel toggle" in Customize-dialog!!!

  • Most dialogs + customization items aren't customized, so don't use the.

  • Don't use this skin on anything than Windows with default font and color setups!

  • For perfect Netscape look add this in Opera6.ini in [User Prefs]:
    Application Icon = PATH-TO-NETSCAPE8

    etscape1.ico

  • Subscribe to some RSS feeds to enable "Read newsfeeds" in mainbar

  • Enter registration code to hide ad banner

If you want to improve this skin, feel free to do so smile

Lars, is the upper part of the screenshot the way it should look in Opera? (I'm a bit confused by the window title.)

And the install skin links bring up a 404?

You know, that Netscape 8 beta didn't have a very good UI to begin width smile

BTW, anyone got a copy of the second beta released today for me? On Slashdot I read 'The browser does not contain the proposed new design concept or any new features,' so I'm not sure if it looks much like the first beta from begin December.

-Fixed the skin download link

-The upper part on the screenshot is Opera, the lower part is Netscape 8 beta
