The incoherent ramblings of a Disgruntled-But-Hopeful, American Dissident

Over the past few days, I watched the movie, "In the Mood for Love," directed by Wong Kar-Wai. I say over the past few days because I kept falling asleep. Not that I was bored, but it's subtitled, not much dialogue, the music is very hypnotic and there's lots of languid segments. So, I'd watch, fall asleep, wake up and try to figure out the last scene I could remember, pick it up and move forward.

I understand that the would be lovers got separated, but don't know the circumstances. Can anyone help me out?
