Difference Between A Brand & A Logo

, ,

To differentiate between a brand and a logo first of all we have to understand the difference. A brand is basically a symbol, logo that differentiates a competitors company, product and a service. On the other hand the graphical symbol used in case of a brand is called a logo.
While his logo is on his business cards, brochure, website, email newsletter, and flyers, the message, the colors, the typefaces, the design, and even the voice used in the materials was completely inconsistent. If I cover up the logo on any of his marketing materials, I would have no idea who or what business the piece is for.

When I brought up this observation, someone told me that a logo is his brand and asked, “My logo is on everything. Isn’t that enough?” A logo and a brand look quite similar to some people but are in fact two very different things that must work together cohesively. Here is a quick explanation of what a logo is, what a brand is, and how they are different.

What is a logo?
A logo often includes a name, symbol, colors specified. It is a quick, visual representation of a brand’s identity and message. A well designed creative logo design should evoke some memory or emotion from the viewer depending upon their relationship with the brand.
We see logos placed on different places like a product, print ads and even on stationery designs

What is a brand?
A brand on the other hand is every interaction with and marketing practice of a name or design that identifies and differentiates one business, product, or service from another. A brand encompasses the positioning, the messaging and communications; A brand basically is just like a human being expressing some appeal or emotion for your product or service speaking out loud in the market against your competitors.

Think of it this way. A logo all by itself is just a graphic element that has a name. A brand is the communications strategy that helps you communicate your passion and expertise.
When combined, a well-planned logo and a brand strategy help you effectively and efficiently reach your audience, communicate your message, your value, and benefits, and visually attract more attention.
So do you have a plan to build a strong brand or an online logo design for your product or service first research before planning to for a logo design service agency otherwise I have seen many companies who have lost their prestige by going in the wrong direction.
