Dick Dawkins Rap!

, , , ...

And here I present to you the infamous Dick Dawkins rap! :

This is taken from a creationist movie called "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed" which Wikipedia describes as : "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed is a controversial[1] documentary film which claims that educators and scientists are being persecuted for their belief that there is evidence of design in nature. It claims that what they call “Big Science" allows no dissent from the scientific theory of evolution, and blames the theory for a range of modern movements from Nazism to Planned Parenthood."

I just finished "The Selfish Gene" from Dawkins (refered to as Dickie D in the rap I guess) and have read "The God Delusion" from him before. I was very much impressed with not only his clear explanation of the evolution theory but also the extend to which evolution has influenced our lifes. Ofcourse I could talk on and on about how amazing and beatiful it all is but that would probably bore you so I will present you with the lyrics.

PZ Refers to the famous evolutionaire biologist PZ Meyer (who btw hosts and amazing intresting blog here). I think you should know who Aristoles, Democritus and Darwin are.

My name is D to the I to C to the K, Yeah I'm the Dickie D,
I gots my phd and comin' your way on the youtube to bust your world view
so just listen to me and don't you argue.

You see, this battle's been ragin' since Zeus was on the bottle,
between Science like Democritus and Faith like Aristotle,
who said the mover wasn't movin' like some magic trick but
that's no good logic, my posse is far too quick for this
religious sthick.

Cos science is the only way to know y'all,
you stand with me y'all,
or you can fall y'all so go ahead and take your pick.

ES: Yeah you tell him Rick ...
Darwin : Cos if you don't know me ...

RD: YOU DON'T KNOW DICK!!

Chorus : Yeah he's the Dick to the Doc to the phd,
he's smarter than you he's got a science degree!
Yeah he's the Dick to the Doc to the phd,
he's smarter than you he's got a science degree!

SH:On the shoulders of midgets we built up this machine,
DD:YEAH!!!
RD:Silence that watch... Paley
Growing stronger and harder almost daily, storming wilber by force as we framed the discourse until the science split in schismatic divorce then Darwin took to the seas to see what no one had seen, and ever since then we've been increasingly keen, they may never adore us, but they'll no longer ignore us, give it to 'em PZ hit these BLEEP with the chorus!!!

Chorus : Yeah he's the Dick to the Doc to the phd,
he's smarter than you he's got a science degree!
The Dick to the Doc to the phd,
he's still smarter than you he studied biology!

Then there was Darrow dukin' it out with the straight and the narrow a ragin' bull in the ring, he did his thing, and took it on the chin like he was bobby de niro.
We might have lost at Scopes, beaten down by the dopes, and the stooges of popes, but in losin' we coped, becomin' more than we hoped, creationists slipped on the soap of their own slippery slope, what was impossible, improbable, is now wholly unstoppable .... the creationst foldup you hate us talking bull, don't you know that this Dick BLEEP frickin' unblockable ...

Chorus : Yeah he's the Dick to the Doc to the phd,
he's smarter than you he's got a science degree!
The Dick to the Doc to the phd,
he's still smarter than you he studied biology!

Now the machine of our making, sees culture ripe for the taking Cos I'm the rapper thats rappin the .... unlike the Catholic, Muslim or even the Jew, believes that no God but science could ever be true, hell if I was dyslexic I'd even hate "dog" too.

Time to open your eyes, get yourself wise, the age of science has arised to be religions demise, and while you turkeys all cry, shouting why God oh why, I'll still be poppin' my collar earning my dollars in Allah.

Chorus : Yeah he's the Dick to the Doc to the phd,
he's smarter than you he's got a science degree!
The Dick to the Doc to the phd,
he's still smarter than you he studied biology!

Chorus : Yeah he's the Dick to the Doc to the phd,
he's smarter than you he's got a science degree!
The Dick to the Doc to the phd,
he's still smarter than you he studied biology!

The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What is known as the Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinnian War Storm!

, , , ...

I've always had an fascination with exploring the human conscious and the many layers that create it. I've always found it very amusing that the being that uses logic to archive such an amazing goals as Space Exploration is in its deepest core entirely unlogic and although easy to predict impossible to (fully) understand. After learning about the existence of the unconscious mind I've always wondered how my conscious mind is so in-capable of controlling my emotions and body, almost like an outsider in my own body.

Might be hard to follow me but have you ever had a moment where you were doing a really easy and boring tasks and it was almost like you were someone else watching yourself do it? That's what I mean. If you are aware of it you can see how much of your life is really "automated". It's almost scary. I could go on but Scott Adams can tell it better than I can. He wrote about it here,

The best way to explore us humans might be through the works of art we create and what can be more fascinating as pure art, unfiltered by layer upon layer of social norms, expectations and prejudice? Such artist are rare but often found among the geniuses or crazy  The first we all know, the second I present to you now :

Really, consider some famous artists :

I put my heart and my soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process.
Vincent Van Gogh

"I know that our deceased friends are more really with us than when they were apparent to our mortal part. Thirteen years ago I lost a brother, and with his spirit I converse daily and hourly in the spirit, and see him in my remembrance, in the region of my imagination. I hear his advice, and even now write from his dictate.",
William Blake

Strange how great artists are either crazy (Van Gogh) or genesius (Leonardo da Vinci)

If you enjoy looking at it I've got a wikipedia link for you and a link to the website . As always, Enjoy!

Great Opera Spell checker!

, , ,

A big advantage of Firefox is the built-in in-line spellchecker. Opera has been lacking this for way to long (and no the normal spellchecker in Opera DOES suck). Fortanley some handy my.opera forum members created a really cool script for us to use!

Features :
  • Works inline (no popups).
  • Works with textareas added dynamically through JS.
  • Increases height of small textareas (enabled by default)
  • Supports keyboard shortcuts:
    - while in textarea:
CTRL+, (comma) - invoke spell checker
    - while in spell checker window:
    CTRL+Enter - OK
    CTRL+' (apostrophe) - Cancel
  • Keyboard navigation is quite usable. Use spatial navigation (shift+arrows) to navigate in found errors. Use digits 1-9 to choose from listed suggestions. 0 to revert to original word.
  • Prevents submitting when spell check window is still open.

Student Syndrome!

, , , ...

I am reading the "4 Hour Workweek" right now and an important law in the book is "Parkinson's Law" I just checked the Wikipedia page and the link to "Student Syndrome" is Procrastination aka taking as much time to do something as is possible

I have been trying to beat the "Student Syndrome" by creating fake dead-lines, this is one of the strategies described in the book. This semester will end January the 28st 2008 and I have the following to-do :

  • Installation of 3 Linux Server
  • Finishing up 1 Project
  • Learning PHP and doing a short test about this
  • Take 3 tests (not much/no learning required)
  • Retake 2 tests (I couldn't show up the first time those tests were taken)
  • Understand Database Normalisation and take the test

This week (excluding Monday when I was "sick") I managed to do the following :

  • Understand Normalization (2 Hours)
  • Write Documentation about the Linux Servers (2 Hours)
  • Learn PHP (this took me about 2 full days, ouch I bet I could have done it in 1 day and better than I did this time but I guess I will have to be happy with the results)

What I WILL accomplish next week is the following at a bare minimum :

  • Finish 2 Linux Servers (FTP and SAMBA)
  • Take those 3 tests
  • Finish up the project

If the Linux servers do not take to much time I will be able to finish even more. I feel confident that with some hard work I can finish more than that I have planned! Looking forward to next week and improving my productivity already!

Intresting Links ;)

First of all I got no words for this, expect that I like it!

How much is your vote really worth?
I have blogged about this before but now someone has done some research on this topic. As you can read here Sixty-six percent said they would trade their voting rights for a free four-year ride at N.Y.U. (roughly $160,000, including room and board). Twenty percent would give up the vote for an iPod Touch (value: $299). Quite frankly I would be quite happy with a iPod touch. An interesting read!

Hip-Hop and Dollars

With the Dollar reaching a new low (this mean that now is the time to fill that hawai off-shore savings account ) Rappers are demanding that they should be paid in Euro's. Although different rappers handle cash in different ways Jay-Z is one that I have always had a lot of respect for. He seems to understand that fame will fade soon (note to self : Don't depend on good looks and charme for to long) and that he is going to need other sources of income to support the life style he has been living.

What this means for America? Well if something as American as a gangster rapper is flashing foreign currency on national TV perhaps you should reconsider you current economic plans
You can check his new videoclip here :

The obesity Epidemic
Slashdot has a nice take on the Obesity Epidemic, although there is no denying that it is indeed happening there is much debat on the cause of this. We might actually be the first generation that lives shorter than their parents. Give it a read and get started on that exercise habbit. I know that I am on my way
