Legal Marketing Isnt For Everyone

I did a couple webinars yesterday and they went great. Attendance was unbelievable. I never imagined we would have that type of turn out. The funniest thing happened during the evening webinar though. It was actually very sad. One lawyer decided to post a number of “questions” that were unbelievably rude, unprofessional and demeaning. When I say “demeaning” I mean he demeaned himself by using such coarse, abusive language. In my opinion, one of two things was going on with him. One, he’s experiencing extreme pain of some sort. Most likely, due to being unfulfilled professionally OR two, he thinks he knows it all and can’t possibly learn from someone else. Either position is not one that you want to find yourself in.
It’s hard to say but assuming he’s feeling unfulfilled professionally, it’s likely that he hasn’t taken charge of his life and his practice. What I mean by that is that he hasn’t really given it the time that it deserves. I imagine that he has never mapped out what he wants in life and then mapped out a plan to accomplish those goals. No, most likely, he’s sliding by figuring it out as he’s going. And I think that’s sad. We can all control some aspect of our destiny. My philosophy is if you plan on being on the planet, you might as well be working on creating the life you want instead of letting life determine what it is you get out of it.
If the “gentleman” was actually acting out of an assumption that he knew it all that’s pretty sad as well. We can all learn from each other. In fact, I was on the phone today with a lawyer friend of mine whose firm does about 12 times the revenues (not to mention the profits) of mine. They have over 75 employees and are on track to make about $12 million this year. But there was one thing that I have learned on my own recently that I shared with him, and he’s going to get it implemented right away. I dare say, the rude guy on the phone isn’t making $12 mill a year yet he thinks he knows it all.
The purpose of this post isn’t to bring up a negative, quite the contrary, it’s to illustrate that we do have some control over our destiny and none of us knows it all.
Hope to see you all on a future webinar. Even the poor guy with the bad attitude.
