Hôm nay theo lịch là ngày Lễ Tạ Ơn (Thanksgiving Day) của người Mỹ (Canada as well). Don't really know why it must be today, but I know the reason for it

Here is an explanation from Tina Marie, posted in Pet Society VIP group discussion:

"Thursday is the American celebration of Thanksgiving. What is that? Well...

...back when America was first settled the Native Americans (or Indians, as they were called back then) showed the settlers how to grow corn and hunt for game in the 'new world.'
If it had not been for them, the settlers would have all died. As a thank you the settlers put on a big festival to say thanks to the Native Americans for all they had done. The Pilgrims (settlers) and Indians enjoyed turkey and corn together when the harvest came in, and ate in abundance together. It is still celebrated today as Thanksgiving.

Americans celebrate it by having a BIG meal together with your family and/or friends. It is supposed to be a time where you think back on the things you are thankful for. You traditionally eat turkey, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and pies - like pumpkin pie. This year Thanksgiving is on Thursday.

For some of you out there, this may sound like Christmas. It is similar, but the biggest difference is that thanksgiving has a bunch of fall decorations (cornucopia, turkeys, fall leaves, etc) and there are NO presents. smile It is also not religious at all."

Well, now you know it! Let's eat a turkey today! yeah! woooohoooo!

*One Note! I forgot to post last time: In Canada, people celebrate Thanksgiving one month before the Americans, in the second week of October don't know the reason but everything else is the same ^^

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
