Lessons from the Chinese bamboo

There's a tree called the Chinese bamboo it hardly gets off the ground in the first four years after planting, despite the watering and the manure you may apply. It's not that the plant doesn't need the water and the attention, actually it does and those first four years of watering and manuring are critical to the life cycle of the plant.
What happens during those four years happens beneath the ground where you cannot see, there the plant is developing a massive root system.
And in the fifth year the plant grows from one foot to eighty feet, amazing isn't it?
That's how life is. I want to keep this as short as possible.
The first four years are the foundation years and despite there's no visible sign of growth above ground that commensurate with the effort and resources applied. The resources and efforts applied determines the height, quality and wellness of the tree thereafter.
Don't think all your positive efforts, love, kindness, generosity, honesty etc are wasted, they are being utilized in building a massive root system preparing for that unusual fifth year growth.
Youth is our foundation years and how will live now determines how our life is going to end up.

Have a lovely day.
