A Music Review of My Favorite CD

Born in a poor countryside and an exam-oriented society, I hadn't got full chance to enjoy pop music until I was 18 years old, when I had enough time and freedom during the summer vacation after graduating from senior high school. At that time, I came across to listen to my first CD called "Dark"《天黑》, which is released in April, 2002, by Ah Du. Now, when looking back, I finally find out that it is my favorite one. Just like first love, it exits in one's mind and heart, deeply and permanently.
Ah Du, who was still a new star in Singapore in 2002, became well-know after his first album. He is very shy at that time, wearing long hair but definitely not womanly. His unique, slightly hoarse voice and his talent made him a shining new star. Before then, he was a foreman in a building site, where he relaxed himself by singing (or maybe shouting) during the break. It is his sexy voice that won the judges'favor and brought sequent success.
It is a Chinese album. I like all of the 10 songs in it. And I can also sing them fluently. That is unusual for me, who always find only one likeable song in each CD.
The style of those 10 songs is either lyric or slightly rock. They tell about men's love and affection. The theme song is called "He Must Love You A Lot", concerning a man who is helpless and at a loss after betrayed by his beloved girlfriend. The man, who drives to celebrate the girl's birthday with champagne, chooses to drive away and let go the girl after seeing her being happy with another guy. The man, though feels harmed himself, prefers to give them his bliss. With his hoarse voice, he said, "he must love you a lot, and can bring you more pleasure than me, who is just childish." Just like another song says, the greatest love is to let go, when engaged in this kind of situation.
It is said that Ah Du is a born singer, because he can quickly and perfectly understand the song after listening to the demo just several times, and demonstrates it by his unique and hoarse voice. I can strongly feel the sentiment of heart-broken man. From "Departure" to "Dark", and then to "Live Alone", the man's self-sacrifice in love is fully shown in these songs. The man expects to be happy by letting go the relationship and giveing the girl opportunity to chase happier life. However, it turns out to be endless miss and sadness in his life. Finally, he chooses to "go far away to the other side of the earth, and manage to forget all these till his life ends."
I cannot tell whether it is right or wrong, or just pessimistic. At least, it reflects one kind of attitude which is adopted by some people who find betrayed in the love affairs.
Should the man let the girl chase her own happiness, or keep on trying to give her a better one instead of giving up? Life is unpredictable, so, nobody can tell which is better.
It evokes people to really think about love, and this is another important reason that I like the CD. I don't have specific favorite singer, and it happens rarely that I will love all the songs in one CD. However, Ah Du's "Dark" is really a different one for me.
Here is the only one English song in this album, named "Right Here Waiting". Hope you enjoy it with the hoarse voice.
