My OperaTravel Broadens the Mind, and Friendship

Travel always reduces the bank balance, but this time I had fun with many new friends, without spending one single cent. Well, it was on Dec.10, when I traveled to a small place, called Zhi Man Dam.
As a student, I cannot expect long-distance or high-cost travel. Many other schoolmates have the same situation. Then, the other day, some guys came up a good idea and set up a Travelers' Club, aiming at calling together all the schoolmates, who are fond of traveling but lack of money and companion. The club members can travel together, broadening the mind and making acquaintance with others.
On Dec.10, our club had the first traveling plan to the Zhi Man Dam, which is located in a village not far away from our campus.
All the club members met outside the school gate for the first time, but we didn't have any sense of strangeness, because the hobby of traveling made us familiar and united. We went there by bicycle. Throughout the trip on the road, we began to know each other and talked cheerfully. When someone's bicycle broke down, all of the club members came to help. It was cold that day, but we really feel warm in this united community. As the saying goes, getting there is half the fun.
When we got to the dam, we felt so excited, breathing the fresh air in the small village. We were wholly involved in the soft breeze and calm water. I walked slightly to the dam, looking into the distance. The birds barked softly, sounding almost like young pups.
The field around the dam was filled with corns and sugarcanes. The streams wound up around the small mountains. When I came near, the apparently calm water surface suddenly displayed little waves. It turned out to be the swift swimming of the scared small fish.
When walking on the ridge of fields, I couldn't help crooning songs brightly. I felt so comfortable here in the hug of nature, and far away from the noise. The villagers were truly fortunate to be living the way they were and they were also lucky to be exempt from the strains and tensions. However, the problem was that these quaint inhabitants in the village were to some extent undereducated and poor. Many kids worked hard in the fields together with their parents, and even their grandparents.
The villagers were really kind and hospitable, especially the senior citizens. Maybe there had been rare visitors, I guess. They carried out the chairs and watching us eating our lunch under the tree. Dogs, chickens, ducks and kitties all came front to welcome us. What a harmonious scene!
On the way back, we talked much more cheerfully. All I saw was smiling faces, and the laughter never ended. Everyone, I guess, enjoyed our first travel, and longed for our next plan. Then we decided to go to Nao Zhou Island on the last day of 2006, and saw the sunrise on the New Year's Day. What a good idea! I am looking forward badly! Maybe I would like to tell you more when I came back.

Just hope the club will have much more plans to travel.
As to the travel to Nao Zhou Island mentioned in my post, I am sorry for not keeping my words to tell you guys about it. Because the travel was not very good, and I got no pictures even at the seashore. Too bad. Anyway, let's imagine the next travel in the oncoming term.
