I Believe - The Social Media Creed

,

I believe that the new media is the new powerful force of change that will impact the lives of millions.
People always aspire for change, because it is the nature of human beings to continuously strive for improvement in every aspect of their daily living. Technology, for one, is the most concrete evidence that human beings push their talents and intellect to the fullest that they turn scientific knowledge into forms that are aimed to bring satisfaction to anyone who utilizes it. New media, on the other hand, is a crucial development in the way that people interact with each other. This, while revolutionalizing every internet user’s experience online, hastens the exchange of concepts and information that will give better and better experiences for every netizen. New media may also be the tool that will bring forth change for internet users to upgrade their browsing experiences and start building on a more secure and powerful online life using a better browser! HTML5, Web 2.0, name it, and each is destined to do wonders to the online world. Being a member of a blogging community, not only the online habits and beliefs are influenced. The group that I belong to, the SOCCSKSARGEN Bloggers, aim to change the perception of people about the island of Mindanao. The common misconception about Mindanao is that it is a haven for terrorists and is suffering from backward development. Through the new media that we use (blogs, microblogs, forums, and even meet-ups), we aim to project the real, beautiful , and peaceful image of our place.

Thank you, Opera!

, , ,

I've been using Opera ever since I landed my hands on my very first PC (and Java-enabled mobile). My experience on Opera has been truly fantastic! I wouldn't use it as my exclusive browser if it weren't that great! But unexpectedly, I have received more than the best internet experience that anybody could ever have. I also received great Opera stuff, thanks to the Opera Campus Crew! Thank you, Opera Software, for the following:

  1. A cool Opera laptop/messenger bag - my prize for being one of the most active members of the Campus Crew for the June-December 2008 semester. All I need is a laptop to use the bag!
  2. A 'Moods of Norway and Opera' shirt - for being one of those who contributed great ideas to the last Campus Crew brainstorming chats. It’s a limited edition shirt!
  3. A black Opera Campus Crew uniform shirt
  4. Opera pens and notepads
  5. A bright red Opera umbrella - my prize for being one of the Campus Crew to receive 50 affiliate points when Opera 10 was released. Perfect for rainy Philippines!
  6. A red Opera notebook - bundled with the affiliate points contest. It’s large! The thing is, I don’t usually take down notes during classes. p
  7. A red Opera hooded jacket – for being one of the three Gold members of the Campus Crew for the January-October 2009 semester. Perfect for my habit of being in the cinema once a week.
  8. An Opera baseball cap – still for being a Gold member
  9. An LG Viewty KU990 Mobile phone with HSDPA and a 5.1-megapixel Schneider-Kreuznach lens - another Gold member prize. At last! A replacement for my good ol’ N70 that gives up its last breath everytime I go online for only an hour!

Thank you, Opera Software! These stuff gives me more and more reasons to love Opera!

The Web and Me

,

I have to admit - I can't live without the internet. It's as important to me as eating and sleeping. In fact, I trade the internet for sleep at times. The web goes with me no matter where I am, thanks to mobile web with my trusty old Nokia N70. I'm not the typical Filipino who knows internet only through a Big 'E' icon on the desktop, or one who believes that the internet is primarily composed of Google, Yahoo and Friendster monkey.
