Wastage...

I tried to link a photo here, but it didn't work. Oh well. I'm still learning this blogging format. It's pretty user friendly (as long as I can type and spell okay!).
So, what's up today?
It's a long weekend - I still have two more days off! HOOOOOORAY! I love my job, but I really love my time at home with Michael and Nolan. And the cat. And my photos and crafts. And books. And garden.
All I want is a bit of peace in the world, and I find it right here at home.
It looks like I'll be planting onions this weekend - woohoo! We're still harvesting root veg from the garden, and now it's time to start on the crops for this year. Non-stop production! Thank you to the ridiculously warm weather we've been having.

My friend Cheryl has some good thoughts about poor taste - in Valentines, and with regards to the luge tragedy at the Olympics. I don't watch television, but apparently they've been showing the complete film of the "horrific accident" that led to the death of an Olympic competitor. My son had the misfortune to see it last night, and he was markedly affected by it. What the hell is wrong with the news that they need to show it in full detail?
Michael said it is like a snuff film, and Cheryl pointed out the difference is it is journalistic vs. "scripted." Either way, it's wrong. We lose something as humans when we accept any old thing as commonplace.
Oh hey, here's a film of some dude dying.
That's essentially what the news channels are doing.
I'm an atheist. I don't believe in god or heaven or any of that religious mumbo-jumbo. But to show the film of this poor human's demise is just wrong.
Callous and wrong. May he rest in peace.

It's been raining and raining here - hopefully it will clear up for a while so I can get outside and dig in the garden!
