Premise
God (Jehovah) created mankind with dust and His living breath; Man is of body and spirit.
Theme
Genesis 2:7

"The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being."

Ecclesiastes 12:7

"…and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it."

James 2:26

“As the body without the spirit is dead…”

So, the first death is physical death.
The body that comes from the dust must come back to the dust, and the human spirit must come back to the Lord God, who gave it. Physically, our body will turn into earth after our death; however, our spirit returns to God and is subject to His judgment. That means, the death of a human spirit is different from the death of his/ her human body.
Matthew 10:28

“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”

Job 19:26

“And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God.”

So, the human soul/spirit exists and remains after the human body is extinguished. Therefore, the real existence of mankind is “spirit”, not body.
Who bears our human physical body? - Our own physical parents.
Who bears our spirit?
Hebrews 12:9

“Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live !
The spiritual parents bear our spirit. Corpse/Body is physical/ natural and Spirit is divine.

1 Corinthians 15:44

“It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body.
So, spiritual life is separated from physical life. Physical life depends on where spiritual life is.

1 Kings 17:21-22

“Then Elijah stretched out on the boy three times and cried to the Lord, “ O Lord my God, let this boy’s life return to him!” The Lord heard Elijah’s cry, and the boy’s life returned to him, and he lived.”

Revelation 20:12

“…The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.”

Conclusion

The Bible testifies to the existence of the spirit after the physical death of a human being, and then, his spirit shall be judged according to what he had done.
God Almighty gives mankind physical body, his temporary house on earth, for us to live a life similar to the life of the heavenly pattern. God also gives us a spiritual life so that we may live forever in the kingdom of heaven.
