My daughter Tiana

Her amazing fight for survival

Tiana's heart scan - 7th July 2009

, , ,

Well it has been 5 months since Tiana's last heart scan and today she had a check up at the hospital to check that her artificial heart valve is still working well.

It was great news and her heart is functioning as it should be and we even got told that her valve could last up to 8 years instead of the 1-3 years as previously told so we are over the moon. Tiana was not impressed at having to lay still on the hospital bed to be scanned so we gave her a bottle to try and keep her calm.

Tiana also had to have her INR (international normalisation ratio) checked today and this did not go so well. The nurses had to prick her heel 5 times before they finally got a reading on their machine. As you can imagine Tiana was pretty distressed at having her heel pricked and squeezed so many times and she made sure the nurses knew this by crying. Tiana soon stopped once she realised we were leaving the hospital and was much more happier.

Today has been a great day for us all and we hope that Tiana's valve does last as long as the doctor told us smile
