Round 14 defeated by Panthers 34-4

The Century 21 Storm were beaten comfortably by Panthers 34-4 in a game where Storm always seemed on the back foot and simple errors meant they were playing catch-up football from the start.
Panthers contolled possession in the first half and raced away to an 18-0 lead by halftime despite a valiant effort in defence by Mitchell Case.
The second half started well for Storm when Darcy Allan unleashed a strong run to score in the corner. Unfortunately for Storm the errors continued in the second half and the weight of possession saw Panthers run out winners by 34-4 and advance to the semis next week.
To miss the finals by one win was heart-breaking for Storm and although dissapointed the boys should be proud of a season in which they won the St Pats carnival and worried the top sides including a 12-16 loss to St Pat's(one loss all year) and a 16-16 draw against Panthers after being 0-16 down at half time in their first meeting.
Congratulations to Jack Kersten, Nathan McAndrew, Luke Peachman, Luke Davern, Mitchell Case, Cody Godden, Beau Wade, Chad Osland, Joel Cama, Darcy Allan, Jacob Bradley, Jack Smith, Ricky Gracey and Cody Allcroft and good luck for next year.
Thankyou to sponsors Century 21 and Lithgow Workmen's Club for continued support and on behalf of the parents and players thankyou to coach Al Godden.

Round 13 d. Portland 46-6

Needing to win to keep their finals hopes alive and despite the absence of three key players to illness the Century 21 Storm played one of their best games of the year to defeat Portland 46-6 in the second last round of the competition.
Storm scored first when Cody Godden beat a couple of defenders with a good step and a good kick from Beau Wade saw Storm leading 6-0.Portland suprised the Lithgow defence when they regathered and scored from the kick-off to even it up 6-6.

Nathan McAndrew didn't need the support on his next touch when he ran around the Portland defence to score a good try which was converted by Mitchell Case for a 18-6 lead. Riley Allan split the defence with his first touch of the ball and the ensuing play saw Luke Peachman spy a gap and score a good try. Nathan McAndrew's successful kick had Storm leading 24-6.
Good hands through the Lithgow backs found Darcy Allan running wide and he was rewarded for a big effort all game when he scored next out wide for a 28-6 lead.Mitchell Case tackled himself to a stand-still from the start but still found enough in the tank to worry the Portland defence all day with some strong runs. Mitch scored a spectacular try from the next restart when he took the ball on the full and outraced the cover to score, the conversion by Luke Davern had Storm leading comfortably 34-6.
Jack Kersten then unleashed a trademark darting run and despite the attention of three defenders reached out with one hand and planted the ball for a great try that was converted by Cody Godden and a 40-6 Lithgow lead. Jack Kersten again troubled some tired Portland defence in the dying stages when he out-stepped a couple of defenders before offloading to Cody Godden to score his second try and add to his impressive strike rate over the past few weeks.Luke Peachman's second goal sealed the win 46-6 in Storm's favour.
The 'Century 21' under 10s play Bathurst Panthers in the last round in what should be an enthralling encounter. The sides are equal on competition points, they played a 16-16 draw in their first encounter and they are both playing for a place in the final four.

Passing and support play was a feature of Storm's game on the day and the next try went from one side of the field to the other and ended with a neat offload from Jack Smith to Luke Davern who beat the cover defence for a good try and a lead of 14-0.
Luke Peachman gave Storm good field position from the restart when he beat several defenders with a weaving run. Jack Smith capitalised on the next play and outpaced the defence for a try in the corner.Beau Wade added to his good all-round game when he kicked the conversion for a 20-0 lead.
