Ramblings...

...of a little pixie

Halloweenie

,

So guess what? Apparently, yesterday, it was Halloween :yikes: I know! We heard that a tradition of this low-key event is the carving of pumpkins, so here they are...
I had to work all day unfortunatly, so i was not the one to create this vegetable-art, but i was greeted to them staring at me from the window when i got home which was nice! I also walked in and saw a bowl of chocolate! :eyes: Helloo! *helps self*
Apparently this was not for me though  *gets chocolate hand slapped* This was for the trick or treaters. My sisters boyfriend pointed out that this must be the only day of the year you can go into a shop with a scary mask on and not be arrested ...it's also the only day of the year strangers can give children candy and not be arrested!

Anyway, we also roasted the pumpkin seeds for an hour  with spices and they were Yummmmers! :D
I've never actually eaten pumpkin but everyone seems to rave about pumpkin pie so maybe one day i should eat some. I don't understand pumpkin pie though, cause i thought pumpkin was like butternut squash...ya know, vegetabley...but people eat pumpkin pie with ice cream? Maybe you just add lots of sugary goodness  Sugar with FIBRE!

Pumpkin pie, mince pie, and pecan pie are my favorites! No ice cream required, either with a good pie, whipped cream is a definite plus! :D :chef:

Roasted spicy pumpkin seeds! Mmmmmm....
I think the secret ingredient to pumpkin pie is nutmeg - and whipped cream as mentioned above.

Did you use a gigantic knife?

kirstycat 2. November 2009, 08:47

wow, that first one is scary! :eyes: The second one is quite sweet and friendly looking  Good pumpkins!! Have you ever had to carve out the inside of a turnip for the same thing?

lixxylu 2. November 2009, 12:38

Gigantic knife

Kirsty - Er nooo, i would of imagined that was somewhat impossible if i didn't know you'd actually done it! I have a hard time slicing turnip let alone carving it! nervous

Pumpkin pies have eggs, sugar, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, (or you can be lazy and just us pumpkin pie spice  ), ... crap... I forget the rest. We eat it with whipped cream. Sweet Potato Pie is also popular this time of year, although I've never eaten it. Can't.Seem.To.Get.Past.Sugary(now with fiber!).Pies. gaahhh!

Alas I have never roasted my own pumpkin seeds. Homer: Doh! and I do love pumpkin seeds! The premade ones come with gobs of salt. :yuck:
