Tales and traumas of a 'Teenage Drama Queen'

[updated] I'M BACK!!!

, ,

And hopefully this time I can keep up with myself!

Arrived back from Scotland late last night. And have been busy ever since, had to empty my case, and then tidy up the mess from that!

Had a lovelly time in Scotland, managed to sail several times and spent a huige amount of time with my cousins, which was awesome since I don't see them much.

But wait, I promised a blog about my entire Summer so far, not just the last 10 days. First comes Tunisia!

We had a great time there, and be proud...I didn't burn!!! Dani is sure that I always burn, no matter how much suncream I wear! Sheesh, I even burned in Wales in May! So normally when we go away to a resort we spend most of our time laying around the pool, but this time I think we went out at least every other day. Plus, we made more friends than normal, as in we made some at all. And we're planning to meet up soon, which is awesome! I can't wait!

As far as going out, we went shopping in Port Al Kantoui (the resort we were staying in), shopping in Sousse, the local town (incidentally, sousse is where they filmed part of "A Life of Brian"). We also went on a trip to El Jem, a Roman amphitheatre, the trip included a ride on a 'pirate ship' which was cool, if a little crowded. The other two organised trips we went on were a camel ride (rather rocky but fun indeedy) and a quad bike ride (WOW!).

So yes, overall Tunisia was a hit.

Sadly my pictures won't upload, but hopefully I can add them in tomorrow. Now it's getting quite late so I will also blog about Scotland tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone who still reads my blog, even after so long! I'll get back to you all soon. Promise.

Just a very quick update and big apology. I have been busybusybusy for ages and opera's been the last thing on my mind. Had no time to even breath! Just spent two amazing weeks in Tunisia, got back yesterday and am leaving first thing tomorrow for 10 days sailing in Scotland. Awesome!!! Just very rushed. It's like 11pm here and I've only just finished packing. Still gotta have a shower and shizzle before I go to bed. But hey, life's great. Got loads of news to tell everyone- busyness gives me lots to talk about! When I come back I'll catch up with you all. Pinky Promise.

So again, sorry for not blogging lately and replying to messages. Will catch up with everything in 10 days time.

[Update] Hey

,

Hey everyone,

It's been another busy few days. Coursework coming in from all directions, music commitments, work and all that jazz...

It's nice to see Ghost back again, thought you'd disapeared forever!!! :D

Anyway, I thought I ought to update everyone on the "God" thing

In registration on Tuesday my friends and I started having an friendly debate about the existance of god, it was quite interesting. Since we're of completely different opinions Dani and I managed to carry it on for the rest of the day. So, in the evening Dani sent me this email, part of which is forwarded from a different email but most of it she did herself. It's quite interesting and I thought you may like to see it.

Hope this helps...

This is one of the best explanations of why God allows pain and suffering that I have seen: A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects.
When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said: I don't believe that God exists." Why do you say that?" asked the customer. "Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things." The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and unkempt. The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber: "You know what? Barbers do not
exist." How can you say that?" asked the surprised barber. I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!" No!" the customer exclaimed. "Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside." Ah, but barbers DO exist! That's what happens when people do not come to me." Exactly!" affirmed the customer. "That's the point! God, too, DOES exist! That's what happens when people do not go to Him and don't look to Him for help. That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world."

I'm adding this to this email cause i think it applies to what we were talking about...

When you experience pain and suffering, don't doubt God - that is the time when you need him most. No matter what you feel, he will NEVER leabe you or let you down. NEVER. You may like to talk to your friends about your problems, and that's all good, but when you're in despair, the person you really need to talk to is God - he is the only one who can truly help.

2 Corinthians 1: 3-7
"All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the source of every mercy and the God who comforts us. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When others are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. You can be sure that the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. So when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your benefit and salvation! For when God comforts us, it is so that we, in turn, can be an encouragement to you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer. We are confident that as you share in suffering, you will also share God's comfort."
- You may feel as if God has it in for you or simply doesn't care about YOUR suffering compared to everyone elses. I know it may be hard to contemplate, but it is through suffering that we can grow stronger and that we appreciate when life is good. Suffering may sometimes tear people apart, but often it will bring people together, and it is at those times that you know who your real friends are, who truly cares for you and who you can look to for comfort when times are trying.

Romans 8: 9-11
"You are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God in you (And remember those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them are not Christians at all.) Since Christ lives within you, even though your body will die because of sin, your spirit is alive because you have been made right with God. The Spirit of God who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as he raised Christ from the dead, he will give life to your mortal body by the same Spirit living within you."
- Don't be scared of death. As long as you turn to Christ, you can live without sin and be protected by his Spirit. The sinful nature of humans means that your human life has to come to an end, but your soul will live on, stronger than it ever was here on earth. If you repent for your sins and accept God into your heart, you have nothing to fear and when you die, you will go to a place where no evil hands can touch you.

Jeremiah 29: 11-15
"For I know the plans i have for you" says the Lord. "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a good future." "When you pray to me, I will listen. If you search for me with all your heart, you will find me. I will let you find me" declared the Lord.
- This is my favorite verse in the Bible. It's a solid promise from God that he has a plan for your life, and however fulfilling you think your plans are, the plans God has for you will give you such a larger sense of fulfillment. It's also a promise of always having someone to turn to. Whenevr you have ANYTHING on your mind, just pray. Don't be scared, God doesn't want to hear respectful words that you have been instructed to say - he wants to hear what you really feel inside your heart, no matter how rude or brutal that is. He wants the real you, cause he knows what you're thinking anyway. I know it's a scary thought but you can't hide anything from God. Lastly, when you recognize God as your Saviour and really turn to him, hunger for him, search for him with all your heart, he will be waiting there with outsretched arms, and once he has you in his grip, he will NEVER let you go.

Job 5: 17-21
"Consider the joy of those corrected by God! Do not despise the chastening of the Almighty when you sin. For though he wounds, he also bandages. He strikes, but his hands also heal. He will rescue you again and again so that no evil can touch you. He will save you from death in time of famine, from the power of the sword in time of war. You will be safe from slander and will have no fear of destruiction when it comes."
- Humans can be very selfish at times. They want free will to do what they want, but also want to be saved from destruction, that was brought on by free will itself! If you have faith in God, he can see your suffering, and it breaks his heart, but he will not let you come to any real harm while your in his protection. You may think that suffering on this earth is immense. Have you ever thought that on a scale of one to ten, our suffering could have been ten and it's only really a tenth?

I know that you (ahem charlie!!!) will probably think of something to contradict what i've said but you know in your heart what you believe and i don't ever want to change that, i'm just trying to explain to you what I believe and if you choose to do the same, it's your call.

There may be no concrete evidence - You can't see God so he must nbot be real. You can't see wind, but do you believ in wind? Yes, because you can see the effect it has on all that comes in contact with it. Well it's the same story with God. You just have to open your eyes to see the miracles he has worked in the lives of others, people who have seeked him for help and have recieved his mercy. He can do exactly the same for you, all you have to do is BELIEVE!!!

I know i get hysterical when i debate but i still love you all and definitely don't judge you because of what you believe. I'm in no position to tell you that you're wrong. See you at school =]

p.s. if you can think of anyone who i haven't sent this to but you think should see it then just forward it =]]

Well, let me know what you think...

Thoughts, pressing on my mind

, ,

Religion seems to have been a large part of my life lately. So last night when I decided I was sick of barely going out I agreed to go to a gig called "sold-out". The only problem was that it was a Christian thing. So, of course I was going to be out of place- what with my growing scepticism and feelings of bitterness towards religion in general. The music wasn't bad, but unsurprisingly there was a break in the middle where they had a 'chat' to us.

The man who was talking up on the stage was a perfectly nice guy, but he was preaching about what was, in my opinion, an extremely debatable subject. He was talking about purity. About how every person starts life as a "pure" being, but because of the mistakes they make they become "impure". He went on to explain that God was the most "pure" person in creation, and that the reason that he doesn't help people in unfortunate situations is because he doesn't want to become "impure" himself. This, of course, is the christian comeback to the standard anti-christianity question "How can god exist when there is so much suffering in the world?"

The entire time he was talking, I was staring, unfocused, at an extremely boring patch of incredibly bland carpet, but my mind was working overtime. I was thinking about everything he said, only unlike most of the people around me I wasn't agreeing with it. No; involuntarily my mind was forming arguments to almost everything he said. And at the time they seemed perfectly clear, only of course by this morning I had forgotten them. A shame really, it would have made an interesting debate. When he had finished he asked the people who wanted to too bow their heads down and say a prayer of thanks to God for allowing him into their hearts to purify their souls. It was around about then that the blank white ceiling suddenly became rather more interesting than the patch of carpet.

It's not that I was deliberately being rude, but by this point my invariably over-reactive mind had gone into over-drive and I was fuming; not only about religion but about the reaction which this simple preaching session had brought upon me. It doesn't help that lately I have been thinking a lot about my little sister, Emily, and how much I miss her. In fact, one of the arguments I thought of during the speach was to do with this sort of situation. I was wondering whether, according to his argument about purification and such-like, people were to blame for ever little thing that happened to them. For instance, when the parents of a small child get divorced, is it that child's fault when they then spend the next however many years suffering at the centre of a highly fueled legal battle? This is why I'm not religious; For me Christianity is to contradictory and I have too many questions that are not satisfactorily answered.

I don't mean to be entirely negative, the man talking did actually make a good analogy. This was that in life humans are very much like hamsters; we wake up in the morning, run around in a wheel going no-where, and then go back to sleep. What is the point. However, his answer to this, of course, was that GOD is the point.

I have loads more to say on this subject, but I'm getting to tired now! If you've got any opinions don't hesitate to talk to me, but I don't want to fight. I'll end by pointing out that despite the flaws I see in religion, and Christianity in particular, my best friend is a recently converted christian, and we are still great friends.

[update] I'm back!

,

I know, I know, I said I'd be back right after half-term. But it's been so busy, like, non-stop busy, 'specially with school work.

So, what's been going on?

Well, first we had exams, which, whilst I din't do brilliantly, I didn't completely fail either. My best result was definately art; I got 86% which was a solid A. The worst was Physics; a result of just 39% (bear in mind that the highest result in my class was 60% and we're meant to be the second set) haha, stupid isn't it! I was, however, quite proud of my Japanese result: 68%- my highest language result, ever! Yay!

Then, in half-term my grandparents took Dani and I to wales to stay for the week in the little house they have there. It's a lovelly place, and it was an incredibly nostalgic trip for me, because until two years ago I went there on a regular basis. Well, not to there exactly but to a house three buildings up the road, which my dad owns. Luckily, it turned out that my dad wasn't there, which was a weight off've my mind- I was scared there was going to be trouble when we went down there. Although, in one way I wish they'd been there, at least they'd have found for themselves that I went, rather than through distorted rumours and gossip.
Anyway, we had a great time- lots of funny pictures taken and several heart-to-heart conversations.

When we came back and went to school we were suddenly hit with a barrage of coursework and exam results. So, since then I've been shut up in my room working feverishly to get everything in on time. Right now I'm supposed to be doing maths, but to be honest I haven't gotten anywhere with it, so I'm giving up for tonight.

I've had a lot on my mind lately, so I think in a few moments I will be posting a more serious blog. Hope you don't mind!

:D

Rainy days

, ,

So I had a history exam first thing, had to be in school for 9am, then it finished at 10-45. After, I went down to the hair dressers to try and book an appointment, but they were closed.

I decided that I still had ten minutes left before the bus came, so I said I'd walk up to the further bus stop with my friend cause she was lonely, only I obviously can't count, cause I missed the bus. So, i had to get the next bus, which meant getting off in the middle of the village, and walking the 10 minute journey from there.

Of course, as soon as I got on the bus it absolutely tipped it down. And my umberella broke, one of the sticky things snapped and it was flapping everywhere so I gave up with it.

By the time I got home I was dripping wet, and my 'cool' shoes, which I'd only worn because the others broke, were completely drenched. My bag was soking wet (warning- don't use canvas bags on rainy days!) and I was worried I'd break my phone again- have a habit of it you see.

Just as I got to my front door my mum texted me saying "Hi, I'm in town, do you want a lift home?"

Ironic eh?

Unbelievably I was still in a great mood, and still am. Hyper and a little wierd, but great :D

My history exam went well though, better than I expected.

Now I have to revise, got three exams tomorrow, English Lit GCSE, Maths and Music. None of which are my best subjects.

Crazy Old Rain Man

,

I just looked out my bedroom window. (It is sooo what I do when I'm not revising, hehe)

And I saw this:

[imgcenter]http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a74/longing2belong/padington.jpg

These people are mad. It is tipping it down and he's cleaning his drive in his fishing gear. The English aren't just eccentric, they're completely mad! What's even more worrying is my parents were doing the same thing this morning, only they weren't wearing bright yellow rubber suits! I think they're almost as mad. Plus, it wasn't raining when they did it.

Hmmm. Crazyness!

xx

P.S. Sorry about the quality- had to zoom it in a bit

friends

,

I found time to blog! Go me :D

I never realised how tiring exams are. We get study leave but that time is spemt revising, perhaps because I did very little beforehand. Hmmm hindsight... Well, only one week and five exams left :D

So far I know that I completely messed up three subjects; History, Art and Physics. Hopefully though, these are redeemable. I have another History exam tomorrow, fingers crossed I will do better in this one (I have actually revised this time)and they'll take an average. On Thursday I have the second part of the art exam, in five hours I have to repaint practically the whole thing, just was not in an 'arty' mood last thursday. Physics always was ging to be a disaster, as was chemistry, but I don't think I did to badly, for me, in biology or chemistry. That should mean that I get an average score in science overall.

Yesterday me, Holly, Adele and Lyd went into town, guess who we saw there? A bunch of JCU people of course. And with them was Dani, even though she'd told me she wouldn't be allowed out all weekend. I was mad. Angry. Angry. Angry.

But of course I don't want to lose my best friend, so I didn't know what to say.

I thought about it the whole afternoon. And in the end I decided it would be easiest just to come out with it, we're supposed to be going on holiday together next week- I didn't want us to still be as distant. So, I texted her on the way back. I asked if she was avoiding me, and of course she said no. There was more, but the jist of it is she hadn't really realised how much she'd change. We've been talking today like normal, so hopefully...the holiday will rule!!!

Saturday

,

I *owe* a proper post about Staurday, and when I get chance I will try to.

Right now, suffice to say it was a great day! We skated in the early afternoon, where I made many new friends, people from the Boy's School and Dani's church club thing. (The JCU people are lovelly, it's the principle of it that I'm against...but that's a different story.)

Whilst the skating was great :D the train journey back was the highlight of my day. We had to take two trains, one from the rink into the city centre and one from the city to a smaller town nearer where most of us live. the total journey time was about an hour and a half. Which would have been boring, had we not been with interesting people! Since there were so many of us, about 40 in total, we could not sit together on the train and instead split up into smaller groups.

I got seperated from the birthday girls, and instead ended up in a group with some other friends. There were a few girls that I'm in various classes with and a couple boys from the other school. There were'nt any seats so we sat in the corridor section, by the doors, and went hyper, all of us having a great laugh. The journey went too fast!

When we got back to town we tried to go to Pizza Hut for dinner, but they aparently could not make anough food to serve twenty people. (Not everyone went, which was a bit of a drama. But we're a bunch of teenage girls- there are bound to be dramas!) So, instead we went to McDonalds. I'm a bit of a 'health freak', and so, although I don't mind it, I don't eat McDonalds very often. After we'd eaten several people felt ill, so Rob (a guy who I had met before, but only really made friends with on Saturday. He's a very cool guy;)) and I decided to go on 'strike' from McyD's. Only we had to make a couple exceptions to the 'strike'- fries, McFlurries and, at Rob's insistence, the milkshakes.

After McDonalds most people went home. But I really couldn't be bothered to go- staying out was my excuse for not revising! So I stayed in town for a while with a few people. Dani had been quite tired all day, and by this point she was exhausted. Normal people when they get tired just go quiet... But Dani? No, she becomes "stoned", strange really, since she doesn't drink and she mot certainly does not take drugs!

So we were sitting on the steps outside the shopping centre and Dani decided to lie down. Then she started laughing hysterically, and we all went a little hyper again.
