Update...

Got quite a lot to talk about today. So tired though, I guess four hours sleep really isn't long enough! I don't know why I couldn't sleep...I guess everything was running through my head. I seem to have been playing the part of "agony aunt" this weekend. Which isn't a great idea since I'm not good at giving advice. I think my friend just needed a shoulder to lean on. I hope I made a good shoulder... :worried:

Turns out Dani and I won't be going to China. They first mentioned the trip at the end of January. It was due to take place this coming October, but they took a month getting letters out to students. Dani and I were there at all of the meetings and everytime they mentioned letters. I was one of the first to get a letter when it was finally printed. I bought it in along with my £100 deposit the next day (last friday). But I was told that all twenty places had been filled. Bear in mind that this was 9.00 am. Not exactly late... However the teacher in charge of the trip was out of school all day Friday, so we were left in suspense about whether all places had actually been filled until today. As soon as I got to school I started searching for the teacher, but somehow she eluded me until break, when she looked all apologetic and said "I'm very sorry, all the places have been filled, but you and Danielle are first on the waiting list". Gutting!

It's a shame, but it's not all bad news. The price of the trip was eventually calculated to be £880, which is a huge amount anyway, even worse, the trip is in just seven months! Now that I'm not likely to be going I can afford to save up for a digital camera of my own, meaning my mum can have hers back... I've got my eye on teh Fuji Finepix F10, which has been out for a while but has excellent reviews. It has an amazingly fast shutter time, great for me since I'm a "shoot and go" person. Right now I'm researching prices etc trying to get it as low as possible. Managed to drop it from £280 to £167!!! Heh heh, my mother taught me well!

This is the camera. I particularly like the size of the screen (2.5") because I like to see what I have taken immediately.

Oooh, the Japanese exchange girls came to our school today! They are so friendly! I really regret not hosting this year, although I must admit it's exhausting juggling entertaining for two solid weeks and school work. I will be hosting next year too.

I might be going to China!!!!!

,

Seriously, I might be!

Last September the Librarian from my school library moved to Beijing with her husband to help run "Good Hope Childrens Home" for orphaned kids. Now my school has decided to send a group of girls (not surprising since it is an all girls school) over to China to spend some time helping at the home and seeing some sights in Beijing! Dani and I are very interested in going and my mum has said that I can go, as long as I pay some of the money. It's going to be very expensive, and it will be difficult to raise the money because the trip is October this year. Just nine months away! But I managed to earn money to go to Japan so I think I'll manage this, plus I have a good record with Mum and Alan for repaying debts so I hope they'll lend me some money. Oh, I so hope I get a place on the trip. And Dani better be able to go too, cause I'd be too scared to go without her.

This is one of those few moments when I actually like my school...They give us some great opportunities!

It's still sinking in...I might actually go to China. China! CHINA!!! This is one thing I never thought I'd get to do.

I'd be so gutted if I couldn't go now.

Right, I'd better think about something else, or I'm never going to get anything done. I have art coursework to do...grrr. I love art but this is just prep work now 'cause I've finished my final piece. I think it's due in on Thursday but I'm not really sure because the teacher has extended the deadline about a trillion times.

Argh I failed four more tests today, seriously I think there's something wrong with me, I never seem to do well in assessments. Two of them were German, all of them were a surprise. No shock that I didn't pass them really!!! Doesn't help that I'm not well, I got that bug that Dani had last week. My voice sounds like a frog and my eyes are watering so much that I was asked at least once in every lesson today if I'd been crying. Arghhh. So I'm skiving off Orchestra tonight so I'll be healthy for tomorrow.

The reason I want to be healthy tomorrow? Well, we are having a charity day at school, which means we have five shortened periods in the morning, a late lunch, and then the entire afternoon is dedicated to charity events. All of the forms are supposed to do something, but ours hasn't come up wih anything yet and this thing is tomorrow! Ooooops. Well I'm going to be supporting the other activities anyway. The best thing about the charity day is (and I know this is really selfish but...) we get a non-uniform day, and this is great because for once we will not look like the Umpa Lumpas from the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We have to pay for it so it does benifit everyone.

Anyway, I gotta stop writing this essay-blog and do some drawing....ciow
