More pictures, springtime garden

Still testing out image settings etc on the camera. The daffodill was taken under the "foliage" setting with a macro, and the Camellia used digital macro. The tree was just my messing around with camera angles. It is a little strange being in landscape but I felt it was the best way to incorporate the bare branches.

Camera...

It came! At last. I think I am in love, with an inanimate object. Is that possible? Haha, I can't go anywhere without it! But right now I'm just learning how to use it...beware though, there are bound to be many more photos posted in this blog in the near future...

This is someone elses photo of the same model camera as mine. It's a Canon IXUS 55.

Sorry I haven't written much; I'm too busy being excited!

Update...

Got quite a lot to talk about today. So tired though, I guess four hours sleep really isn't long enough! I don't know why I couldn't sleep...I guess everything was running through my head. I seem to have been playing the part of "agony aunt" this weekend. Which isn't a great idea since I'm not good at giving advice. I think my friend just needed a shoulder to lean on. I hope I made a good shoulder... :worried:

Turns out Dani and I won't be going to China. They first mentioned the trip at the end of January. It was due to take place this coming October, but they took a month getting letters out to students. Dani and I were there at all of the meetings and everytime they mentioned letters. I was one of the first to get a letter when it was finally printed. I bought it in along with my £100 deposit the next day (last friday). But I was told that all twenty places had been filled. Bear in mind that this was 9.00 am. Not exactly late... However the teacher in charge of the trip was out of school all day Friday, so we were left in suspense about whether all places had actually been filled until today. As soon as I got to school I started searching for the teacher, but somehow she eluded me until break, when she looked all apologetic and said "I'm very sorry, all the places have been filled, but you and Danielle are first on the waiting list". Gutting!

It's a shame, but it's not all bad news. The price of the trip was eventually calculated to be £880, which is a huge amount anyway, even worse, the trip is in just seven months! Now that I'm not likely to be going I can afford to save up for a digital camera of my own, meaning my mum can have hers back... I've got my eye on teh Fuji Finepix F10, which has been out for a while but has excellent reviews. It has an amazingly fast shutter time, great for me since I'm a "shoot and go" person. Right now I'm researching prices etc trying to get it as low as possible. Managed to drop it from £280 to £167!!! Heh heh, my mother taught me well!

This is the camera. I particularly like the size of the screen (2.5") because I like to see what I have taken immediately.

Oooh, the Japanese exchange girls came to our school today! They are so friendly! I really regret not hosting this year, although I must admit it's exhausting juggling entertaining for two solid weeks and school work. I will be hosting next year too.
