Scotland

, ,

Well, I've written about Tunisia, and now it is time for Scotland. So, as I sit here chewing on breakfast and checking email I'll try to reconstruct my visit for you.

My grandparents and I drove the seemingly endless 9 hour drive up to Oban, a town two hours from Glasgow, on the Tuesday after I returned from Tunisia. We were welcomed by my aunt, uncle and two young cousins. They are still young enough to think that an older cousin coming to visit is a cause for constant celebration :L and also an endless source of entertainment!

The first few days were rainy, so we talked about what we planned to do, including several plans for rainy days (you always have to account for rain in Scotland!). But before we'd actually gotten around to doing any of the things we'd planned, which included a trip to an art gallery in Glasgow, swimming and other child-orientated activities) the weather brightened up and we managed to get out on the boat, which beside seeing family, was my main reason for going up.

Now this boat belongs to my Grandpa, and when I was a small child we sailed her in Wales, but when he decided he couldn't handle her on his own he gave her to my uncle, so he can now enjoy the odd sail but doesn't have the stress of looking after her. The first day we went out was very nostalgic for me, because going on the boat brought back so many memories of Wales, and Sailing, and family. But after that I got used to it and began to enjoy the time we spent on her, soon fitting back into my favourite role of boat maintenence helper (I love doing odd jobs on boats and seeing them work properly- a trait I've inherited from my Grandpa). Each day we went out around 11-ish and sailed to a nice spot for lunch, then we, my aunt, uncle, cousins and I, went ashore on the dinghy and walked or rock climbed over whichever beach we had arrived at.

The last few days clouded over again but I can't really remember what we did. I think we went shopping a couple times and there were a lot of children around (my cousins live in a lovely estate where there are loads of children of a similar age, so they have lots of friends to play with).

[updated] I'M BACK!!!

, ,

And hopefully this time I can keep up with myself!

Arrived back from Scotland late last night. And have been busy ever since, had to empty my case, and then tidy up the mess from that!

Had a lovelly time in Scotland, managed to sail several times and spent a huige amount of time with my cousins, which was awesome since I don't see them much.

But wait, I promised a blog about my entire Summer so far, not just the last 10 days. First comes Tunisia!

We had a great time there, and be proud...I didn't burn!!! Dani is sure that I always burn, no matter how much suncream I wear! Sheesh, I even burned in Wales in May! So normally when we go away to a resort we spend most of our time laying around the pool, but this time I think we went out at least every other day. Plus, we made more friends than normal, as in we made some at all. And we're planning to meet up soon, which is awesome! I can't wait!

As far as going out, we went shopping in Port Al Kantoui (the resort we were staying in), shopping in Sousse, the local town (incidentally, sousse is where they filmed part of "A Life of Brian"). We also went on a trip to El Jem, a Roman amphitheatre, the trip included a ride on a 'pirate ship' which was cool, if a little crowded. The other two organised trips we went on were a camel ride (rather rocky but fun indeedy) and a quad bike ride (WOW!).

So yes, overall Tunisia was a hit.

Sadly my pictures won't upload, but hopefully I can add them in tomorrow. Now it's getting quite late so I will also blog about Scotland tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone who still reads my blog, even after so long! I'll get back to you all soon. Promise.

And this concludes my Trip to Tunisia. Will write about Scotland soon!

Holidays

, ,

Haven't posted a blog in a while, well I have, but it got deleted somehow. Anyway, I felt I ought to make use of the site!

For students in England this week has been February half term, I don't know if other countries have half term? Well anyway, it means we get a week off school to relax and unwind, although the teachers don't seem to agree with this. They always manage to set a ton of homework right before the exams. I realised this afternoon that I have done very little of it! Oh well. My school has a teacher training day tomorrow, so another day off!

Haven't really done anything special this holiday, spent a few days visiting family down south and shopping. Plus a lot of violin practise, in preparation for the exam next week. I'm so scared!

On Friday my friend and I went into town shopping, we met up with another friend that we'd known for a while but never actually met. Oooops, he was supposed to bring some friends, but they abandoned him at the last minute. In the end it was quite an uncomfortable few hours!

We were due to go back to Dani's house, a long bus journey away, so we went to the bus station and looked at the times. As luck would have it, the bus had just left and there was not another for an hour and a half. So, we sat in Macdonalds, where Dani fell asleep on the chair and had a ketchup accident (involving poking the tub of source until it exploded all over us and the wall behind.

Stayed at Danis house Friday evening, and spent most of the night on the internet. hehe.

Apologies for the incredibly boring blog, but I felt like writing and there was nothing interesting to talk about!
