I've had their album "Final Straw" for a couple years now, and while I've listened to it, I've never heard it. The same goes for their recent album "Eyes Open". But, just before the Scotland trip Alex and I were listening to Kerrang! (the local rock radio station) and they played "Chasing Cars". I immediately fell in love with the lyrics. Wanting to see them on paper and remembering I had the album hidden somewhere at the bottom of my CD collection, I had a rummage for it. Eventually I emerged, covered in dust, but triumphant. We sat together, and decided that this was 'our song'.

It's just so beautiful.

Chasing Cars
Snow Patrol

We'll do it all
Everything
On our own

We don't need
Anything
Or anyone

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel

Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lay with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

Let's waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads

I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lay with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see

I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lay with me and just forget the world?

Pretty, don't you think?

Guilty heart breaker- soul searching

,

It's difficult to explain how I feel right now. And I feel bad for not posting many blogs lately. So to compromise, I'm going to post some song lyrics. Perhaps they'll clear my mind a little.

"I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair"

"I will let you down
I will make you hurt"

Above: “Hurt” Johnny Cash
Quite a depressing song, but if you listen carefully there are some amazing lyrics.

"I wanna see through all the lies of society
To the reality, happiness is at stake
I wanna hold up my head with dignity
Proud of a life where to give means more than to take
I want to live beyond the modern mentality
Where paper is all that you're really taught to create"

"I know it sounds like a dream
But it's the only thing that can get me to sleep at night
I know it's hard to believe
But it's easy to see that something here isn't right
I know the future looks dark
But it's there that the kids of today must carry the light."

Above: “Oxygen”, Willy Mason
I fell in love with this song. It highlights some important problems that face society today.

“I guess the most that I can do
Is make a call and tell you the truth
Sing the words in melody
And hope that you'll believe me
Here's another song for you
So this one this one makes two
Still don't know where to begin
I'll just leave it at this”

Above: “Playing favourites”, The Starting Line.
I have the acoustic version of the song. Although I have never been in the situation the band sing about, I still love the lyrics. And the melody is absolutely beautiful.

“This may never start.
I'll tear us apart.
Can I be your enemy?
Losing half a year.
Waiting for you here
I'd be your anything.

So get back, back, back to where we lasted.
Just like I imagine.
I could never feel this way.
So get back, back, back to the disaster.
My heart's beating faster.
Holding on to feel the same.”

Above: “Memory”, Sugarcult.
Again, I have the acoustic version of this song and it is just amazing.

“Will you meet me in the middle, will you meet me in the air?
Will you love me just a little, just enough to show you care?
Well I tried to fake it, I don't mind sayin', I just can't make it”

Above: “Sister Golden Hair” Midtown.
Another acoustic song about love.

“The young queen, she fixed him with an arrogant eye
She said, "You won't understand, and you may as well not try"
But her face was a child's, and he thought she would cry
But she closed herself up like a fan.”

Above: “The Queen and the Soldier”, Suzanne Vega
I had listened to Suzanne Vega for a long time, but for some reason had never heard this song, when I did hear it though, I was instantly in love!

I think this is enough for this evening. I still have so many songs to talk about. Perhaps if people like this I will do a similar blog sometime…
