"What do you see
when you see me",
this
she asked of me,
in reply,
i told her
she's a beauty,
"that's what everyone tells me"
was what she said to me,
but i wasn't finished
and she allowed me
to continue speaking
of what i see,
i dumped the word "beauty"
for she was sweet and caring,
i dumped the word "pretty"
for she was kind and amazing,
smart and optimistic,
i looked past the word "sexy"
for she was fun to be with,
a person that gives me a happy feeling,
i spoke not once of her wonderful smile
or her eyes that were watery like twinkling stars,
i saw her brilliance
and passionate mind
that carves mine apart,
making me cherish who i am
and strive to be better,
and, then i asked her,
"what do you see
when you see me",
she said, "you're fat"
and then paused,
"is that all you see in me"
i asked, with a mind thorn,
and she said,
"yes",
but only at first sight,
and giggled with a smile that said "i could never stop loving you"
for you're never blue like the skies,
although you smile,
it's the happiness you emanate from inside
that sets you apart,
a heart of gold that no other has,
a clever mind that doesn't strive
to touch the skies,
'cause that's where your mind lies,
these and more make you more than handsome,
in and out, that finding you becomes like a ransom,
and looking into your eyes
reminds me of those twinkling stars
you just talked about,
i guess you stole the words from my heart,
but the words you couldn't steal from mine
go beyond the mere meaning of words that
can express how one feels inside
based on what one sees outside,
your strength, your understanding,
your weaknesses and your love & care for me,
you're unwavering,
and for all of it, i hope forever comes & goes
with you here beside me, for eternity...
