mind, memory test, video games, computers
...
A recent study at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign found that adults in their 60s and 70s who played an off the shelf video game (Rise of Nations) would increase the scores on memory tests and other tasks involving the brain. The type of game that requires players to build nations, feed virtual ppl and basically be the creator is the ones they refer to. It didn't mention anything about action games or racing sims but it is quite possible that most modern day games will have a similar effect. The Sims series, black & white, world of warcraft maybe. Or even handheld gaming consoles like the nintendo ds with brain age or cell phones strategy games. My favorite one to think one may recieve a mind boost from is half life, since the entire game is strategy yet incorparates very astounding graphics and high paced action parts as well. I love half life myself so this would be cool to test out.
About 3-4 months ago I recall reading an article in, i believe it was parade magazine, about how the mind starts to deteriorate at around mid-thirties. This was found out from some university researching alzheimer's. Now if only there was a way to use all 10% of our brain, but maybe we can't figure out everything on how the mind works because basically one would have to determine weather or not ones mind is functioning correctly using..their mind! ~MIndboGGlinG~ what color is clear? where is the end of the world? Who made stonehenge!!!? why are you reading this? 4 more info. on this visit

macbook air, super thin, laptop, Dell
a
new laptop from Dell will be released possibly, this is not certain but is on some reliable sources. It will compete with the macbook air in terms of thickness and what its capable of doing. I don't know tho, macbook air is pretty thin...I mean these things are like anorexic now! Hopefully it will be faster than the
rev. b of macbook air, which still has no optical drive

There is not to much on this particular laptop, here's one
link yep read that for much more detail. Oh it was me that mentioned it to Uptownlife! LOL jk

IE, hacker, malware, security
...
the worlds most used web browser has a major security flaw.

ok so here's what is said about it. Microsoft reported a significant increase in the number of users infected with malware targeting a vulnerability in Internet Explorer widely reported last week. The flaw affects all supported editions of IE.
Hackers have begun compromising Web sites to infect vulnerable computers with malware that exploits a zero-day flaw in Internet Explorer revealed last week.
Microsoft reported a significant increase in the number of infected users over the weekend, and researchers at Trend Micro estimated about 6,000 sites had been infected. The move is a shift in tactics for hackers, who had been relying on rogue Web sites to propagate their malware.
Microsoft is working on a solution which will come in the form of a security patch for the browser. They advise to use an alternate browser until then, such as Opera

x58, PC, fastest home computer, gaming
...
Well actually more like the new computer that will dominate all others. Now that the new Core i7 cpu has been released by intel and the new x58 motherboards there have been some very VERY powerful computers being assembled. For example
this here powerhouse machine. This thing has 12Gb of DDR3 1.6ghz RAM!!! TWO Nvidia GTX 260 SC 896MB GPU, two 300gb 10,000rpm WD Velociraptors, Creative X-Fi Titanium audio, logitec sound system, 22" lcd monitor, Blu-ray/HD0-DVD combo and a Core i7 Quad 3.2ghz (965ee) cpu!!!! the benchmark score on this thing is over 21,000 where as the previous most powerful core 2 Quad got in around 16-18k. with a machine like this you can play crysis in highest settings effortlessly More like you can play 4 or more games in highest settings with no lag. (call of duty 5, crysis, unreal tournament 3, half life 2 ep.2 all at the same time!) I really wish I had about 5 grand right about now

youtube live
Was yesterday (Nov. 22nd) *sigh* I really hoped it would be something I could share with my grandchildren someday.

I can't even begin to discribe how bad it was! Mythbusters, charlie the unicorn and the guy on the piano were like the only decent things to happen. That beat boxer dude was annoying the hell out of me and the gay guy was swearing a little too much. Plus the audience either were not impressed by this event or the streaming video didn't pick up ambient sound very well. Lisanova was looking pretty (as always) What the Buck was pretty cool but his dancing skills suck! LOL Oh and the dancing guys, I forget the name. Check out
youtube live for the videos of the event and post a comment if you have a channel.

PC, google chrome, web browser, linux
...
Sometime next year Google plans to make advances in the PC market. OK, they want to have PC's shipping with a default browser of Google Chrome so that they will dominate all and concur the universe!!! oh..well yea it's Google, they buy everyone and now we'll see what Microsoft has to say on this issue. LOL This was brought to my attention when I was about to install Google Desktop. I still want to because of NASA tv and the little red flowers you have to water every so often.

Check out
