I wrote this for my daughter the night before she gave birth to her first child.

The pieces of life
all fell into place
from the moment I saw
your beautiful face

The love and the joy
I felt in my heart
would be there forever
Never in doubt

I made God a promise
and you as well
No matter what happened
I would Not fail

I would love you and guide you
throughout the years
I would always be there
to dry your tears

In life you may stumble
but through it all
Know that I'd be there
before you could fall

To protect you, if
need be with my life
Seems to me
a small sacrifice

For the love and the joy
you've brought in my life
Is beyond any measure
it could never be priced

You're not only my daughter
you're my best friend in life
