Jipijapa

When we first arrived in Ecuador, we spent one night in Quito with Tio Alberto and family and then went straight to Jipijapa....or rather flew to Guayaquil, waited for our rental car in the airport for hours, and then drove the three hours to Jipijapa.
Fernando's mom, cousin Cruz, sister-in-law Marta, neices Kiara and Helen, and nephew Ronny were all anxiously awaiting our arrival at the house, with a hot lunch all ready for us. Lots of hugs, tears, and excitement met us, followed by the kids staring very curiously at the freckly redhead that had arrived with their beloved Fernando.
This time of year Jipijapa is hot and rainy. The sun comes out strong in between rain showers. But at the beach, just a 25 min drive over the mountains, its hot and sunny. And since it was Carnivale that's where a lot of people were hanging out. So after we had slept a bit and eaten a lot, that's where we headed.
