When i was reading a novel by Liuxinwu, a famous writer in china, some familiar taste suddenly come onto my tongue, which i dont know what it is at first. But i immediately realize it is YUQIAN, the fruit of the elm tree, which reminds me of my colorful childhood in my hometown.
Spring is really a wonderful season, which brings not only the warm sun, soft breeze and bright sky, but all kinds of green plants and various of flowers. Just then, the elm tree begins to grow countless YUQIAN, which, it is said, would be gathered by the poor under the hunger threat for food in the past. However, we didn't need to eat them to fill our stomach when i was little, but we children still enjoyed collecting YUQIAN to eat. On the one hand, climbing up a tree and picking YUQIAN was indeed an interesing thing for kids, from which we ever had so much fun; on the other hand, the taste of YUQIAN was some kind of fancy: fresh, a little sweet and sticky. when our hands were full of the YUQIAN juice, it smelled good i remember very well now. We often held a big branch in our hand high, eating happily with pride and satisfaction.
The color of YUQIAN is so beautiful and it is my favorite one. I love all the green colors, from light to dark, while the YUQIAN’s color is the most attractive to me. It always takes me back into my child times and activates my best memories about the great nature. Mom ever said that the green in spring represent the youth energy and hope, with which you could overcome every trouble you met. Besides the color, the shape is another beauty of YQ. Thousands of hundreds of green pieces grow together, without a single leaf. As they get mature and the color turns to yellow, numerous of them were floating down to the earth, leaving the seeds to the every part of the ground.
In northern part of china, you can see this ordinary tree everywhere. And I have a wish that when I have a baby one day, I will take it to my hometown to enjoy the same fun of YQ as I did 20 years ago.
