Why would anyone want to read about me?

Of TV

TV. This is really getting boring. :D Last night's thoughts:

Deal or No Deal Yeah ... I didn't watch that. Was out eating.

Private Practice Just awesome. Carried out the great Grey's Anatomy tradition of being awesome.

Dirty Sexy Money Yeah ....... I didn't watch that either. Oops. :D

Tonight's viewing schedule:

Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader - Fox Same old crap. But pretty cool. I would like to watch Smallville but I would be lost. Only watched a few episodes last season. :frown:

Grey's Anatomy - ABC As I said last night, Grey's is awesome. I lurv it. I'm a bit put off by the firing of Isaiah Washington, but meh.

ER - NBC I have always loved this show. It's so awesome, and Forrest Whitaker's guest storyline last season left me wanting more.

Of See You at the Pole, Contests, Colds, and TV

, , , ...

I am a student leader of CYC/YCI. Last year, I was the president. This year, I'm just a leader (new school). Today we had our annual See You at the Pole. If you don't know what that is, go here, or just let me tell you that it's a kicky event where students gather at the flagpole of a PUBLIC school and pray. How awesome is that? Anyway, today was SYATP. It was awesome. Seriously, it was the best SYATP I've ever been too. Not to say that the ones at the middle school weren't great, they were, but this was better.

On to contests. I enter them all the time; rarely win any of them. Last night, ABC called and said our family won an iPhone and $450 bucks. Seriously. I'm wondering whether or not to accept it because the taxes on it are crappy. Plus, I think you have to activate it to use the media player functions? I really don't want to activate it .... just use it as in iPod. I'll probably end up modding it. :frown:

I have a cold. It's 90 degrees outside and I have a cold.... I feel like crap. :frown:

TV. Last night's thoughts:

Beauty and the Geek - CW: Eh. Same old, same old. Nothing great, nothing bad

House - Fox: I didn't realize Boston Legal and House overlapped, so I watched that instead. I did record House though. Now the challenge is finding time to watch it.

Boston Legal - ABC This show is ace. Perfection in every way.

Tonight's shows:

Deal or No Deal - NBC It's ... just a game show. HUGE meh because it's not really anything special, but it's the only thing on nearly worth watching.

Private Practice - ABC I love Grey's Anatomy. It's awesome. So this will be awesome too. FACT.

Dirty Sexy Money - ABC This show does not look like it will interest me at all. But I keep hearing it's great, so I might as well give it a shot.

Of TV, video games, and BIRFDAYS

, , , ...

Today is my mom's birfday. \o/ Very exciting.

A little known game called Halo 3 released today. Now, this bugs me. The game is total crap (woo I said it), but it still gets tons more mainstream media coverage that Nintendo's top-notch games. Why is this? The marketing team at Microsoft is much smarter than Nintendo's marketing team. If Nintendo would step up and partner with McDonald's, Coke, and other huge names they might get some publicity. I think that at least one game is getting enough publicity: Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Bad choice. Mario Galaxy is, in my opinion, a MUCH better game. Ever Metroid was a better game. Granted, I haven't played Galaxy or Brawl yet; but if the past in the series are any indication, Galaxy has the upper-hand.

And finally, TV. Here's some thoughts on last night's shows:

Chuck - NBC Perfect in every way. I'm calling it the best new show of the season. The sad thing is that I got all of the "nerdy" references...

Two and a Half Men - CBS Hilarious. Charlie Sheen's acting is top-notch, and I'm looking forward to the new episodes. Just the right amount of humor.

Journeyman - NBC This one gets a major meh. About fifteen minutes in, I turned to watch the CSI: Miami premiere (which rocked BTW). Maybe I'm missing out on a gem, but this one did not keep me hooked.

Tonight I'll be watching:

Beauty and the Geek - CW Meh, nothing else is on and this is a pretty entertaining show

House - FOX House is awesome. It's the perfect mix of comedy and drama.

Boston Legal - ABC This is one of my favorite shows ever. EVER. And do I even need to elaborate? This show has The Shat, so it's got to be awesome.

Of school, life, and TV

, ,

So we had open house at school tonight. Here's something interesting about me: I have never made below an A. Ever. That still holds true after today's progress reports. It was rather pointless, we just went around and got progress reports. Lowest grade was in Honors English (95.1). Meh.

On a side note, today marks the beginning of the fall television season. Here's what I'll be watching tonight:

Chuck - NBC A show about a computer nerd. Perfect.
Two and a Half Men - CBS A hilarious show; the premiere looks awesome.
Journeyman - NBC Eh. It looks okay; not fantastic. But I'll be watching.

All of which will be controlled with a Wiimote on Windows Media Center thanks to my recent purchase of a blueooth receiver.

Thompson Speaks to NRA

, , , ...

It's no secret (well, looking back at my blog, maybe it is) that my choice for President in 2008 (if I could vote) is former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson. I just had to share this gem with you; grab some popcorn and enjoy.

Even the demo units aren't safe...

Edit: wow, sucky phone camera. What you probably can't see is that this is a Xbox 360 unit at Wal-Mart with a red ring of death. Just found it amusing.

Great Deal at Circuit City

, , , ...

I can't believe I didn't know about this. Homer: Doh!

Circuit City is now offering a 'Gamers Savings Club', which provides a discount card to get 10% off all games, accessories, and guides. Membership is free if you buy a new console or handheld from them, and $19.99 a year if you don't. This is, to me, an awesome deal because if you buy just four games in a year the card will pay for itself. I plan on going to the loacl CC tomorrow to pick up a membership.

And despite what you probably believe, CC is actually an awesome place to buy games from. Their games are usually less than other stores. I got Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree, Mario Party 8, and Wii Play from there for 40 bucks each. Not to mention they usually guarantee a game is in stock by 2 PM on a release day or you get a $20 gift card.

More information can be found here and you can buy the card online or at your local store.

The Power of 10

, , , ...

Okay, let me just say that I love the new game show 'Power of 10'. I love statistics and the like, so this show is right up my alley.

I do have one minor problem with the show: THE ENTIRE PREMISE IS WRONG.

Allow me to quote Drew Carey, the show's host:

Starting with the $1000 question, every time you get a question right the dollar values are going to increase by the power of ten, all the way up to ten million dollars.

Are the producers that stupid?!?

Perhaps a new question should be "What percentage of Americans don't know the difference between raising a number to the tenth power and multiplying a number by ten?"

But then, as the credits rolled, I realized why the show's premise was so incredibly dumb:

in association with Sony Pictures Television

But I must say I would be quite impressed if they actually raised the prize money by the power of ten each time....

Release Dates vs. Street Dates

Maybe the Captain can help me. Please.

What distinguishes a "release date" from the day the game is available in stores? Usually it's the day after, right?

What about for big games like Galaxy or Brawl? Would those be the day after or the set release date?

And for systems? Aren't they usually out on the release date?

Fanks much.

Pictures from the Grand Hallows Ball...

are up!

See this album.

It was great. I made lots of new friends. Didn't win any contests ... but came close in "Name That Spell." Stupid Bubble-Head charm. :frown: I was the ONLY person in the whole crowd who knew Amortentia. A couple people told me I should have won just for knowing that.

I was 18th in line ... better than last year: 174. :D
