monies, life
What you're looking at is the view from a piece of land my family is getting ready to sell - which happens to be the highest point in the county. My mom and her brother inherited half from their parents, and her aunt owns the other half. It's 16 acres of land and we're asking $100,000, so we expect to get about $20,000 from the whole deal...
The downside is that it's completely landlocked, which limits the potential buyers to ... the surrounding owners. Ah well.
The view is fantastic.

lutherjw, power, blackout, life
So, like two seconds ago I was going to do an awesome post about how I'm in the middle of a blackout.
I CAN'T DO IT NOW. THE STUPID POWER CAME BACK ON.
Ugh .... well, it -was- going to be awesome.
Oh well.

environment, blog action day, life

I wasn't really sure rather to do this post or not. I didn't register to do it, because I presume my opinion on environmental issues is quite different than most other bloggers.
Check after the break for my post.

tv, school, life
So we had open house at school tonight. Here's something interesting about me: I have never made below an A. Ever. That still holds true after today's progress reports. It was rather pointless, we just went around and got progress reports. Lowest grade was in Honors English (95.1). Meh.
On a side note, today marks the beginning of the fall television season. Here's what I'll be watching tonight:
Chuck - NBC A show about a computer nerd. Perfect.
Two and a Half Men - CBS A hilarious show; the premiere looks awesome.
Journeyman - NBC Eh. It looks okay; not fantastic. But I'll be watching.
All of which will be controlled with a Wiimote on Windows Media Center thanks to my recent purchase of a blueooth receiver.

me, life
Got a 98* on my driving test! HIGHEST IN THE CLASS.
* This post is a direct copy of G-off's blog post. I technically did make a 98, but that's not counting the 5 points extra credit I got for completing an optional worksheet. So I actually got a 103.

bill, future, gates, gaming
...
Here's some text from an interview with Bill Gates discussing the future of gaming:
Gates: Vision ... Software is doing vision. And so, you know, imagine a game machine where you’re just gonna pick up the bat and swing it or the tennis racket and swing it.
Mossberg: Yeah, we have one of those.
Gates: No...
Mossberg: The Wii.
Gates: No, that’s not it. You can’t pick up your tennis racket and swing it.
Swisher: Oh, your tennis racket.
Mossberg: Oh, I see what you mean, yeah.
Gates: You can’t sit there with your friends and do those natural things. That’s a 3D positional device. This is video recognition. This is a camera seeing what’s going on.
Can you say 'lawsuit'?
Other than the blatant Nintendo rip-off, which Mr. Gates denies, there are several issues with this idea. For one, if I don't have a baseball bat, tennis racket, or shotgun lying around at my house, I'm not going to want and go out and buy one just to play a game. I'd much rather have everything in one (cheaper)controller, but that's just my personal preference.
I can only imagine what FPS games would be like... If people broke their TVs with a WiiMote ... shooting a gun at it might do a
little more damage.
