A day with swans and the February moon

So, this morning it was -10 degrees, and we decided to take a drive to see the swans. They'll be heading out in a month or so to call 'first dibbs' on a nesting spot, and once that happens we won't see them in great numbers until next winter. Let me tell ya, it was cold, cold, cold, cold, but the swans didn't seem to notice. Watching them is a trip, with their head bobbing and wing flapping. The older pairs are renewing and reinforcing their lifelong bonds while the younger swans are finding love for the first time. So, we watched and marveled, then when my fingers grew numb we headed home, where much to our surprise, we discovered that one of our pipes was leaking and the carpet and everything that sat on it was wet.
So, we took a trip to the hardware store, bought a bunch of stuff, and I watched as my husband fixed the leaky pipe.
It was then that I caught a glimpse of the moon on the rise, and quick as I am, the moon was quicker. It was, for a moment, a pretty rose colored orb, but by the time I got my cameras ready, the moon was turning a pale yellow and heading straight for a brilliant white.
I got a few photos, but once again, my hands froze, and try as I might, I could only stay out a few minutes.
