Trumpeter Swan Takes Flight

The Swans were Spectacular this week

We went to see the swans again and were very much delighted with the flurry of activity. There was so much swan commotion that it was hard to focus on any one group.
This guy was feeling good, stretching and strutting his stuff.

Some were fighting, some were sleeping, while others just preened and watched as if they were above it all.

This guy was showing off his beautiful wing span, but none of the other swans seemed to notice.

Then, there was the Swan Dance, four swans honking and wing flapping, water splashing, oblivious to the comings and goings around them.

Then they finally settled down, happy swan couples.

While all this was going on swans were flying about, looking for a good place to land. Their wing span is so big landing is a tricky thing. They have to look for an empty spot on the river else they have a swan pile-up.

So, with feet hanging & wings stretched, the swans moved up and down the river, some landing and others taking off, all while the rest were fighting or preening, eating or sleeping. All in all it was a spectacular day with the swans.

Thank you! I'd love to see them..we were going to go today but it's a bit cold. Maybe on Wednesday, although they will be heading out soon for their nesting grounds, so I don't want to wait too long.
