STICKY POST

Mac Poker Players

, , , ...

Hello everyone. Im glad to have found this resource. I look forward to talking to all of you and hopefully we will end up playing online poker together. Come join my forum at www.compatiblepoker.com as well. I hope everyone finds a Mac poker room at my site if you are in the need of one.

Compatiblepoker.com and this blog have grown over the past year. It's nice to see so many of you guys staying loyal to CompatiblePoker and I thank those of you who keep coming back every day to check out the site. The most exciting news for Mac users is Party Poker for Mac which is finally came.

Talk to you soon,
Roger

In the Carribean with Poker Stars

, , ,

Mmmmm, the bahamas. Poker Stars is having the Carribean Adventure tournament which I believe is an EPT, (European Poker Tour) tournament. I've got these private jet airline credits which I feel like using and think this might be a good time to use them. Flying sucks for me because I hate the feeling of not being in control but flying private, yeah, I'll be able to handle it. It'd probably only be a 30 minute flight if that anyways.

So if I get bored next week I might make the trip over. I need to get the hell out of Jacksonville for awhile and Atlantis looks like a pretty neat place. I missed a convention there last year so this might be a good little vacation.

The buy-in for the tournament is $8k plus hotel and all the jazz. There's satellites running at Poker Stars but Im such a bad player these days I'd rather just wing it and hope I get lucky at the actual event. Don't want to use up all my good karma on satellites.

Also, I launched a new site that has some more pokerstars marketing codes. It'll eventually be translated into 3-4 more languages when I get the time. We should be getting a freeroll added to the marketing code sometime next month also for Compatiblepoker visitors.

PokerStars MarketingCodes

, , ,

The review for the Pokerstars marketingcodes is finished. The marketing code is "compatiblepoker.com". Its best to enter this code when you register but make sure to use the deposit bonus code "first2007". If you use both of these together you'll get 100% up to $50...yeah!

Actually Poker Stars bonus is pretty solid. I remember trying to clear Full Tilts and I tend to play decent stakes but it still took absolutely forever. Actually last time I really played poker at Full Tilt I lost $10,000 in a few hours so I decided to work harder on my sites than to play poker. Poker Stars bonus is released in no time.

Seriously though, poker is not like riding a bike. Dude, I need training wheels again. I've become the biggest donk. There is a poker room down the road in Jacksonville. I live over on the beach side and it's only 15 minutes away. The buy-in is gay, you can only play with $100 at a time but I swear to god I lose $300-$500 every time I go there now. The only reason I go is because I get bored at night and to talk to the local strange weirdos really nice people. At first I thought it was bad luck but I just think I suck now. Too much web work will do that to you I guess.

Did Full Tilt ever Sell for the 7 figures?

, , ,

Earlier this month I posted that FullTilt.com was up for sale. I don't think it's gone to auction yet as there hasn't been any news on it. To be honest, they didn't give buyers a long enough time to "pre-register" to be available for the domain auction. MKHogan said the auction was going to be held this week and interested buyers need contact him prior to Nov. 15. I emailed but never got a response. I'm not sure if he didn't respond because I told him the domain wasn't worth 7 figures or that he didn't think I could buy the domain.

Anyways, there lies many problems with purchasing such a domain because likely Full Tilt won't let you park any of their site information on it. Why would Full Tilt pay affiliates for a domain that infringes on their brand and gets 60,000 type in's trying to go to full tilt. The only logical way Full Tilt Poker would allow the domain to be used by an affiliate to promote their site is if someone puts up a full tilt referral code page on it. Other than that I just don't see it flying.

Titan Poker Mac

, , , ...

This is something I really don't think will ever happen. Only foreign players can play at Titan Poker anymore and since Titan Poker is not Mac compatible they usually end up playing at Fulltiltpoker.com or one of the other Mac online poker sites we've got listed. I just don't think there is a big enough market for Mac users now that Titan Poker closed to US players. I highly doubt we'll see a Titan Poker Mac version anytime soon for this reason.

It's too bad because I know a lot of people really like Titan Poker. Me personally I never cared for the site. When I used to play it they had 3D graphics and it was more of a nuisance than anything.

Online Poker Safe?

, , , ...

I see so many posts on forums about this...about whether it's safe to play online poker especially from the US. When that legislation passed it scared a bunch of people and rightfully so. Tons of big news sites reported wrongly on what actually happened that everyone just thought they were going to jail if they played poker. Also once Party Poker went kapoot everyone figured online poker was done for good.

I. Nelson Rose whos a well known online gaming professor wrote an article a few days ago about poker players in the US and if online poker was safe. I recapped what the article said.

In short, yes it is safe to play poker but there are some things you should watch out for.

Lots of poker sites SELLING OUT, Neverwinpoker, Pocketfives, Tightpoker etc.

I guess I don't blame them but there's been lots of poker "portals" out there selling to bigger companies. Mostly forums are being sold....most notable neverwinpoker and pocketfives. They sold for like 200k and 900k respectively. Those numbers aren't confirmed but that's my guestimate from what I've heard. Also tightpoker sold last year...man I wonder how much that went for. My guess is they were bought by Pokerlistings.com because they are probably the only site that could afford them. Ranking for "party poker bonus code" is mega bucks.

The sites who've been purchasing are pokernews, pokerlistings, and pokersourceonline. Pokerlistings being the biggest but I can't seem them purchasing too much as of late. They've probably been taking a hit since they refuse to promote a lot of poker sites because they weren't paying them enough. I guess $300 per player isn't enough...

Full Tilt Poker Linux?

, , , ...

Long time no post...but I've been getting this question quite a lot lately. Can you play Full Tilt poker for Linux? Of course you can....but not natively. You've got to dual boot or use wine to play at Full Tilt and even then it's not all that stable. Most people have been using the absolutepoker.com no download software if they're on Linux and from the US.

I tried it and it worked fine...nothing to brag about and when I used it there was no sit and go play but I believe they might have added some tournaments....not too sure though.

Anyways, I've been working my ass off lately with the poker for US player page at Compatiblepoker. It's been a real major pain in the ass lately, since I like to keep it updated every day/hour. When new shit happens every hour I have to go in and modify things so much and as you can see the page has gotten huge. Loads of information which is why I guess it gets over 600,000 page views a month.

Poker Stars Download on Mac

, , , ...

So I hear, shshhhhhh, that there will be a Pokerstars.com site on a Mac here pretty soon. I think I mentioned it a bit earlier but from what I hear its getting really close....thank god because no offense Full Tilt...Im just not a big fan.

I hope to god they actually have tournaments unlike Absolute poker download on a Mac which well.....actually isn't a download version. They don't have tournaments, wtf? Same with Party Pokers version which I can't play because Im in the US, no tournaments and it's been over 6 months since they released the beta.

Oh well,

Vista Online Poker Sites

, , , ...

I've already seen some people complaining about compatibility issues with the new Vista beta. Hopefully all this gets fixed by the time the red carpet rolls out and we don't have any issues. I wrote up an article about Vista online poker compatibility potentials.
