PokerStars Want McEvoy in Poker Hall of Fame 2009

In November, at the WSOP (World Series of Poker) Main Event, the 2009 Poker Hall of Fame class will be inducted with a presentation. One of the largest online poker websites, PokerStars, is pushing to have Tom McEvoy included as one of the members of the 2009 Poker Hall of Fame.

Members of the general public who still wish to have their say are able to suggest their choices for the 2009 Poker Hall of Fame by submitting a nomination using a form which is available on the WSOP website. Along with filling in the form, nominators will have to write 250 words to justify the nomination they have submitted. Over 1,000 nominations were logged on the WSOP site during the first week of public nominations.

After the initial public nominations have been received, 16 members of the media will have their turn to vote for the Poker Hall of Fame's 2009 class. Once a final list has been compiled, all living Poker Hall of Fame members will cast their votes in September for both gambling online and in live events.

Being voted into the Poker Hall of Fame is the dream of many poker players, not least of Tom McEvoy, who said "Being voted to the Poker Hall of Fame this year would be the best moment in my career so far. It would be better than winning four WSOP bracelets, the Champions Invitational, and eve the Main Event!"

PokerStars are fully behind helping Tom McEvoy, a member of Team PokerStars Pro, to reach his dream of becoming a member of the 2009 Poker Hall of Fame class.

McEvoy's poker career includes 37 finishes in the money since he's been playing in the WSOP events to date. Having won four WSOP bracelets, puts McEvoy in a ten-way tie in the 19th place for the most overall WSOP bracelets won. McEvoy has earned in the Top 100 for overall WSOP earnings, with the $1.3 million he has won in WSOP events.

McEvoy has written and co-authored numerous books about poker in which he shares his knowledge with other poker players. The titles include helpful topics such as "Championship Tournament Poker," "Championship Hold'em," and "How to Win No Limit Hold'em Tournaments." As can be seen from the books he writes and co-authors, McEvoy loves to teach poker, which he learned on his grandmother's knee at the age of five.

Grey Raymer, a fellow member of the Team PokerStars Pro has commented "Ted has participated in every stage of poker's evolution on the felt, online, from WSOP to EPT. He has chronicled it and taught us all how to play better poker and, most importantly, he's still winning!"

Poker in the Park Again this August

, , ,

Poker in the Park has been a huge success for the past two years, and once again, things are looking good for a great poker festival this year. Poker in the Park III is set to take place in August and will be brought to players by eleven of the United Kingdom's leading pub leagues, as well as the leading poker magazine, Bluff Europe.

Poker in the Park has run for two successful years, and is the largest annual poker festival in Europe. This year, Poker in the Park is expecting thousands of people to flock to the event. The poker festival will take place in Leicester Square, London, from the 13th to the 14th of August 2009.

The poker festival is more than just a poker tournament, it is more like a big poker party or festival, which attracts poker players, potential poker players and interested onlookers. Poker in the Park II hosted more than 10,000 people, which Bluff Europe are hoping will increase to around 25,000 people this year at Poker in the Park III.

The festival offers poker tournaments, which will feature an eleven turbo sit-and-go tournaments which will last an hour each. Each hour-long sit-and-go can accommodate up to 80 players. Each of the eleven sit-and-go's is sponsored by a different pub league. Some of the leagues sponsoring the event are Champions Poker League, The Nuts Poker League, Masters Poker League, Red Tooth Poker, Big Time Poker League, London Poker Meet Up (LondonPokerMeetUp.co.uk) and London Pub Poker (LondonPubPoker.co.uk), and more.

The poker events will be held in the Poker in the Park Texas Hold'em Tent, The Poker Dome. Spectators will be able to watch the games from inside the tent, or on a large screen television which will be set up in Leicester Square.

Poker enthusiasts can enjoy free poker games, live lectures, free poker lessons, not to mention the autographs they will be able to get from the pro poker players that will be in attendance throughout the festival.

Although planning an outdoor event of this magnitude can be risky in London, with the unpredictable weather, summer does have many fine days. The last two years have not been washed out, and players can always take refuge in the marquees if necessary. Poker lovers from all over Britain will join together for two days of good poker, fun, and hopefully sun!
