Week Two - Technical Problems

As you make your way through life, let this ever be your goal, keep your eye upon the doughnut and not upon the hole.
Anon.

We have had another great week at Harmony this week. Students have been pumping those Neurons and we've been making excellent progress through the curriculum. Apologies for the technical issues with the newsletter - sometimes my computer has other ideas about when to work and when not to work.

Student of the week this week: Zane - for sterling effort and concentration all week

Mr. Mac's Messages
1. Absence
Students should try to be at school for as many days as possible throughout the year. Excessive absence will make it difficult for that student to keep on par with the rest of the class. If a student is absent, a note must come from the parent, dated and signed, detailing the exact reason that the child was absent. We are required by law to keep records of student attendance in public schools.
2. Tardyness
School begins at 8.50. The tardy bell will ring at that time. Students will not be permitted into their classrooms if they arrive after this time, due to the fact that the whole school will be taking part in CQI until 9.30. It is important that your child arrive to school on time to participate in this important morning activity.
3. Homework
Given on a nightly basis, and usually either Math, Science or Social Studies. Please check the agenda every night, sign it and return it with your child in the morning. The homework should be written down in the agenda.
4. Behavior and Consequences
Friday folders come home on Friday, with important letters and information from the school. Inside is stapled a conduct form with the student's overall behavior noted for each week. Students will receive 'checks' for failing to act in a responsible manner while at school, and in normal circumstances, this will also be noted in the child's agenda.
5. Curriculum Night
This will be held on the 7th September from 6.30 until 7.30pm. It is not a 'drop in' event, so please come prepared to stay the hour. You will have the opportunity to ask questions of the two teachers that are teaching your children this year.

Important Curriculum Information:
Math: Chapter 2 test Monday; beginning Chapter 3 on Tuesday; New POW out on Monday
Science: Unit 7: Classification of living things
Social Studies: N/A
Language Arts: Finish the Witches and Starting creative writing Unit
