The alpha freeze has lifted and the flood gate of fixes has opened. This snapshot includes
tons of fixes since the alpha, but these are the main Mac specific highlights:
-
Fixed startup crash on Panther
Yes, Opera works on 10.3 again
-
Fixed the mail/chat counter badge background
It should be a little easier on the eyes now.
-
Fixed low framerate on fullscreen YouTube videos
Our frame rate throttling was a little overeager, throttling when it wasn't supposed to.
-
Fixed broken drop-down menus in widgets set to Always on Top
"Always on Top" shouldn't mean "Always on Top of Everything, Including Essential UI Widgets"
Download build 6186 Download build 6186 (Intel only)Now that we finally have autoupdate, those of you who want every single snapshot release just enable the "Download All Snapshots" setting (
opera:config#AutoUpdate) Please be aware that if you do so, you will be upgrading to all snapshots - and as you know:
snapshots contain the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, they may not work at all. You have been warned

We'll be off eating ribbe and drinking akevitt until next year, so merry Christmas, happy new year and a very merry unbirthday to you! (yes, you)

snapshot, 9.6
After an involuntary hiatus, the Mac Team blog is back in style with a new 9.6 snapshot. We're approaching the first release candidate builds, so please report any regressions and severe issues immediately. As usual, the
the Desktop Team Blog has the full changelog.
Highlights
-
Fixed a Java console freeze
We fixed a bug that caused Opera to freeze when invoking the Java console on some Macs
-
Macified form buttons with zero padding
Form buttons with zero padding used to look ugly and Windows-like:
Now they look like this:
-
Fixed Adobe GoLive 9 freeze
There's been an issue with Adobe GoLive 9 that made it freeze on startup if you had Opera 9.5x installed. This build includes a workaround for that issue, so GoLive 9 should live happily side by side with Opera again.

Trying out new Intel only download option
We figured that since most of you are using Intel Macs, you'd appreciate not having to download the PPC code. Try the new, smaller Intel only download below and let us know what you think.
Please note: this build will not use the "Beta" preferences directory, it will use your main set of preferences.

kestrel final
Go grab the final release of the best browser in the world
here, and tell your friends

Unfortunately, some of the recent skin fixes didn't make it into the release build. I promise that we'll fix this as soon as possible, and hopefully improve it further. Thank you for all your valuable help and feedback, and let's make the next version even better!

snapshot, kestrel, skin
As you may have read over at the
Desktop Team blog, we've been working on a new look for Kestrel. While we've included the brand new skin in the Mac builds, we've chosen to make it optional and rather work a bit on using the new skin graphics with our trusty native skin. Keep in mind that this is still a work in progress, so all feedback is very welcome!
Known issues
- The panel toggle button doesn't look right when pressed
- The pressed panel selector buttons have white corners
- The new tab button isn't aligned properly
- The disk image won't mount in Mac OS X 10.2

-
Hopefully fixed an issue where the window doesn't activate completely when clicked.
We've had a long standing issue where the Opera window wouldn't focus properly when clicked, and we hope that this is now fixed. If you see this issue again, please let us know!
-
Fixed repaint issues when pages are made shorter
When pages resized themselves in a way that forced us to scroll the page, sometimes the resized parts would stick around and make the page look funky. Not anymore.
-
Fixed an issue where text gets cut off in SELECT element
SELECT elements should now adapt properly to the lenght of the text inside them.
-
'?' in HTTP get parameters get changed to '?%1B$)' when using Korean locale
We fixed a curious bug that was particularly visible in our own bug tracking system, where questionmarks would be changed to ?%1B$) in the URL
-
Fixed mouse-hold menu activation
Holding the Back button now produces a dropdown with that tab's history without taking you back first.
New known issues- The dropdowns in the Apperance dialog drop down behind the dialog

snapshot, kestrel, beta2
We're rapidly approaching our second Kestrel Beta, and the bug fixes are pouring in

As usual, head over to the
the Desktop Team Blog for a complete list of fixes, here's the in-depth list of Mac-specific highlights:
Highlights
-
Fixed the font crasher
We had a devious crasher that took on many forms, but it usually appeared when using GMail/Google Reader or having lots of open tabs. Fixed!
-
The print dialog is back
For a while now, Opera has skipped the print dialog and just printed automatically. This is fixed.
-
Drag and drop and clipboard handling of images has been greatly improved
We've had a few issues (color corruption, missing previews, etc.) with drag'n'drop and copying of images, but these should all be worked out now. Please test this, especially if you're running OS X 10.4 or below, and report any issues you encounter.
-
Fixed various bugs with CJK fonts on Tiger
We had some issues with various CJK fonts that made fonts ugly and/or made them behave unpredictably when highlighted. This should now be fixed.
-
File selector now remembers your last used folder again
The Open, Save and <input type="file"> file choosers have all had some memory problems for a while now. This is fixed.
-
Cut/paste works in rich text areas again
We had a bug that made cut and paste work unpredictably in Google Docs, but this should now work as expected.
-
Fixed Flash layering problems
We had some depth issues when there were several Flash plugins on top of each other, such as on StarWars.com and SciFi.com. Not anymore!
