Just a post

You know when there is nothing to talk about, it reverts back to the weather. Something everyone has in common. And as you can tell by today's radar its quite dreary here today. But thats okay, because its still Florida. Hoping for a little sun tommorow since its my day off and possible a trip to the beach. It is really nice to be able to make a short drive and be there.

As for the weather in Omaha, its been a lot worse. Winds caused damaged to the Qwest Center where the Olympic swim trials started yesterday. But even with all the rain and thunder here, I know it will be much more pleasant this winter. I actually like watching the storms as long as the power stays on. When it goes out it takes the cable box a few minutes to boot back up and its usually at the best part of the show. I guess we really are spoiled if that is our biggest worry. I am fortunate not to be in the Midwest where peoples houses are actually underwater. So it just comes down to a matter of perspective.

This Friday of course is July 4th. I have heard a few little firecrackers in the neighborhood already. 6 am on Saturday morning will come way too early for me. But that is just part of the holiday. Remember as you are grilling out or watching fireworks, what the holiday is all about. A group of people decided it was time for change and formed a new country. On the calendar it appears as Independence Day, which has meaning as different levels. We live in a country where if we want to drive 14 hours across the country, we just get in our car and go. If we want to fly to other countries all we need is a passport and the money. For thousands each year this country becomes their own. For whatever reason they have left their own country, perhaps in a search for a better life. As Americans we should never take for granted the privileges we have and the choices we can make. So while you are paying $4 a gallon at the gas pump, consider yourself lucky to even own a car and remember those who have served this country.
