Isobel Campbell 、The Gentle Waves 和Belle&Sebastian，简单一点，我们可以对他们做无差别对待，尤其是Isobel Campbell 和The Gentle Waves，因为你听到的VOCAL（FEMALIE）的都是同样的，一个有点GIRLISH、有点倔强、听不到时间的侵蚀，似乎有凝固最单纯的瞬间的力量，说实话，这样在现在的INDIE界还满吃香的，但是我得承认，我还就吃这套。
这两天把Isobel Campbell 、The Gentle Waves放在一起听，慢慢发现其实这两者之间的差别丝毫都不不小于Belle&Sebastian和The Gentle Waves的。我们很容易感觉出Belle&Sebastian和The Gentle Waves的不同，虽然Isobel Campbell本人对弦乐和比较LIGHT的编配的喜好也多少影响到了Belle&Sebastian，但是必须承认Belle&Sebastian是更HEAVY的，而Belle&Sebastian里的Isobel Campbell到了The Gentle Waves后，女孩似的实验气更浓重，更个人。她开始按照自己的设想，使用她喜欢的各种器物，制造各种声响，我似乎看到玩儿得小脸通红的，还在往各种瓶瓶罐罐里奋力挤 KETCHUP的小女孩儿，而其实一切都很简单，呈现给我们的就是她快乐的尝试和她已难以罢手的音乐游戏。
音乐的游戏相对于谎言载体的语言的游戏，不知单纯多少……

所以我喜欢The Gentle Waves的 KETCHUP般的简单、生活的精神，而且事实上她听起来根本是简单到奇妙，生活到可触碰。The Gentle Waves的the green fields of foreverland里有首hangman in the shadow，几粒沙捶的小声响，两次出现在间奏的长笛，和仅有的一次的CELLO的SOLO，都很节制或者说使用得很狡黠。renew & restore呢，仿佛害怕捶破鼓皮似的DRUM，只以SOLO的面貌出现的苏格兰的FIDDLE，然后零星而略带凌乱，其实随意的PIANO，前奏极简的 GUITAR CHORD。还有emanuelle, skating on thin ice啊enchanted place啊的，都是赞到不行的作品，不一一细数了。这张就是the green fields of foreverland(1999)。

综合起来听你会发现，Isobel Campbell是玩儿得难以罢手了。终于忍不住，出了她的SOLO ALBUM：Amorino和最近的isobel campbell + mark lanegan的 ballad of broken seas ，哈，只见小姑娘更大胆了，尤其是和mark lanegan的合作，大有玩儿疯掉之势。Amorino真的是很见功力的作品，当然99、00年期间的The Gentle Waves的磨练对Amorino的成功是大有裨益的。虽然说ballad of broken seas已经超出我意念中的“Isobel Campbell的音乐”所及的范围了，不过，要做调节的应该是我自己，对于一个在音乐上的想法总是远远多于现在已经完成了的、倔强的、还在读诗、大方可爱地以“THINGS I LIKE”为TITLE把自己喜欢的电影、书籍、音乐、诗LIST出来和大家分享的女生，且玩且行，那我除了喜欢还能做些什么呢？

不过，The Gentle Waves 在Isobel Campbell的SOLO都出了几张后，还会不会再有作品，我有点担心，对于多产的B&S，它不止是Isobel Campbell的前传，他们应该还会一直走下去。而Isobel Campbell的SOLO概念似乎大有继而为之的势头，那么The Gentle Waves呢？我真的很喜欢Isobel Campbell过度时期的这种音乐形态，既然jeepster签了，希望它还会带给我们作品，以The Gentle Waves的名义，以Isobel Campbell的孩子气……

PS：The Gentle Waves 的COVER的设计可以再好些就更好了。还有jeepster的The Gentle Waves除了有Isobel的“THINGS I LIKE ”还有她的原创“FICTION”。
