I have no interest in climbing mountains. Like the thought of running the marathon - 26.2 miles of pain and boredom - I see scaling peaks as a less than fufilling endeavour. That's not to say it is easy. Many of these expeditions are planned months in advance and physical preparations is made all the more tricky by the fact it is not possible to simulate the conditions you are likely to encounter (not inexpensively and often anyway!) So like walking across the Arctic - why would you want to? - it is one of those things that I cannot understand but, appreciating that different people like to do different things in this adventure called "life", and I grudgingly admire their courage for undertaking such madness, can see why some might do it. so my point?
There is one fella, John Duffy, who is going to climb the Himalayas - only mountains I had ever heard of as a boy! - He is not a young bloke and it is not something he does as a past time. He is just a man who has had highs and lows in his life. During lows in his life he has turned to the Big Issue foundation to help him get his life back in order. The Big Issue foundation is a body that allows homeless persons to regain some degree of self esteem and worth through selling their "Big Issue" magazine. As John Duffy himself says "it's a hand up, not a hand out." To this end, he is climbing - omigod! - the Himalayas! He is hoping to raise £50,000 for the foundation. A lot of money eh? Not really...if every British blogger gave just £1 - one! - he would smash that figure. If you can afford a computer, you can afford £1 - it cost £1 to use an internet cafe! - So come on, help people who probably will not be sitting around a tree and enjoying familial surroundings. Give a present to someone who will appreciate it; you. Goodwill and a warm fuzzy feeling for a pound (or more)!

Ohmigod! I am happy tonight! Giddy as a schoolboy, grinning like the Cheshire cat, manic as the Joker. It has been an eventful/uneventful week. A conundrum I know. It was my birthday on monday, a day which - due to some small effort on my part - usually passes without fanfare. Most of the day was as expected. I watched "The Princess Diaires", a quite enjoyable Disney film, cooked a little food and fielded phone calls from the few close friends who remembered my birthday. My ex-girlfriend - whose birthday was on the 7th - rang to ask what I was doing. I told her, she knows i'm not a big celebrater of birthday's, especially mine. So I spent the rest of the day working on my website - or being confused by dreamweaver! another story - and sort of watching television. As the evening closed, in there was a ringing of my doorbell. I leapt out of my skin! I had not expected anybody. Opening my door, I was greeted by my ex. She brought me a bottle of champagne -still in the fridge - and I gave her closure. It was nice to see her. Our relationship had more
fizzled out than ended and she was finding it very difficult to deal with. Admittedly, I find closure not the most fun part of a relationship, but this was an adult end to a union that had been magical when it was working well.
Tuesday was a normal day, classes clicking back into gear, speaking to friends and sleeping in the day!
Wednesday. Wednesday, wednesday, wednesday. Those who read my random writings know that
wednesday is beautiful Brazilian day. Though there was no sighting last week and i must admit I was somewhat disappointed. Today I had a group of ladies - three - for personal training. They are regular clients and one brought me a belated birthday present - colonge - very nice. I went home after that, ate some breakfast and chilled. Back to work for three o'clock. Trained at 5.15, had a shower and watched as the tai chi class rolled in. The instructor, Andy, came up the stairs. I told I was disappointed not to have seen the BB and I would have to cancel his class! Laughing he disappeared into the studio. I settled into
reading the newspaper and then she came up the stairs. She was carrying rollerblades and smiling - she
is a very pleasant girl! - and I was smiling back. I said hello and mentioned the rollerblades, she said that she was not very good! She went into the studio. I sat grinning like a moron. I cannot believe how happy seeing her had made me! I don't even know her. I was in a good mood before, but seeing her lifted it into the stratosphere (i'm even using big words now!). Hmmm. This could all end in crushing disappointment. For the time being however I am going to live in the dream.:faint: :D

I'm feeling really happy this evening:D ! I cannot think why, but i'm not going to puncture my own good mood. Maybe it was the salsa I was listening to on the way home from work. You know when you're listening to music and all you can do is nod your head to the grooves, but then you're at home and you can cut loose! Which I did. Salsa around my bedroom so I did! I do feel a bit of a putz, I think I bought the same spanish/english dictionary twice. Estupido. Someone is going to get a strange birthday present soon. Arsenal beat Juventus in the football. Hurrah! I think that has contributed to my plesant mood. I once knew a woman who said her husband didn't like music. What the hell kind of a human being does not like music?! I think she divorced him. I just discovered La India. Oh-my! What a voice! How can anyone not like music? weird. I'm in such a good mood!:D I hope you alll are too!

music takes you higher!

I have been feeling unaccountably miserable of late. I have not been inflicting my misery on people (well, with the exception of the Opera commune!) at work I'm quite content, happy even. It's after work, usually after doing quite a good class, I feel...empty. So I've reached home tonight with my demeanour somewhat downcast - being single really is not agreeing with me! - and decided I needed to do something, anything, to keep myself from becoming to maudling (pull yourself together man! Have you no shame? People are staring!) It's thursday night. Thursday night means "House". Excellent! I love "House", it is just about the best programme on television, also it is the only programme I make a conscious effort to see. Take takes up an hour, lost in the world of the complexities of the human body. When "House" finished, I turned my attention to something I am putting off more out of frustration than laziness; building my new website. Even the most idiot proof web building programs seem to baffle me. I have the most advanced "industry standard" Dreamweaver program on my computer and I'm damned if I know what to do with it! I only want to put up a temporary page until I work out something more...concrete. I lost patience with that - not to mention my way! - so my mind turned to something else which had been in my head; music. Specifically 80's soul and funk, the stuff I use to buy and dance to when I clubbed as though I would never stop. I searched for Wornell Jones "Must have been love". I own it on vinyl, but I was wondering if I could download it on to the 'puter. The website I found - jazzfunksoul.com - had a three minute snippet of it. Woohoo! That brought back memories! Singing in my bedroom! They had snippets of many a track I had not heard for the best part of a decade - all my vinyl is at my sister's house - got me dancing around the bedroom. I took a chance and searched for another track. They didn't have it. So I googled it. Up it popped, Affinity - "Don't go away" Mango records 1983! £7.99! Piccadilly Records and it's in the U.K! Another brief snippet of music later and I was rushing to grab the creditcard - I have never been able to track down this record, until now! - So a very happy blogger, me, is awaiting a 80's club classic, hopefully by next week! Just have to get a deck now...yippee! The internet is a beautiful, beautiful thing...but nothing beats music!
