Jammed CD on a Mac / Disco Atascado en la Mac

When I had my PC, it has a kind of tray in which you place your CD/DVD and that tray did the work of placing it on the engine and over the Laser, and whenever that CD got jammed, what you had to do is to force the expulsion by using a needle and introducing it inside the little hole the tray has below...

But what happens with Macs, that doesn't had a tray, but a Slot in which you insert the CD... and obviously they don't have that "hole" that with a pin you could un-jam your "traped" CD?? Ok, DON'T PANIC! and don't think: "ok, this is it! Mac Service, here we go..."

Three Options:

First one, taken from the Apple Support discusion board: Reboot your Mac (mantain pressed the I/O button until it shuts down) and start pressing the Eject Button. It works the most of the times!

Second One, taken from El Blog del Switcher: try to eject your cd using another program that includes the option of eject cd (such as the DVD player, CD Burners, etc), as the author said: "sometimes the Finder or the Eject button can't eject them, but other programs can... informatics stuff!"

The Third, and the one that actually worked on mine: WAIT until the jammed cd stops spinning (otherwise you could damage the equipment) and when it has stopped, try and force to insert ANOTHER CD inside the slot... OBVIOUSLY YOU WON'T FORCE IT TO MUCH!!! It's only to make the jammed cd move inside the slot. Then press the EJECT button... And Magic! It comes out!

This last piece of advice was given to me by my friend EZTIGMA, and, on his own words:

es lo que yo hago siempre que algo se atora

Good Luck Everybody!

It really works!

In fact, my car's CD player (also slot loading) tends to eat cd's so I just pull them out using the next CD I want to hear.

There are several issues with the Mac that can be solved easily just by RTFM, so, don't hesitate and take a dive before calling Mac Support.

Thanx for sharing!

Damiphonic: Are you getting your own Aluminium Macbook? uuhh!! you'll informing us how good it is...

Eztigma and I were chatting about those new macbooks, and we concluded that even they look gorgeous and they have the hell of new upgradings, etc.. we won't be changing our Macs... (his, a Black 13" Macbook, mine a 15" Macbook Pro). :D
