A Week Of New Beginnings!

, ,

For many Ghanaians, this week (like the previous ones) has been a week of disaster and turmoil. With the recent spate of market fire outbreaks and its consequent scuffle between the AMA task-force on the one hand and the aggrieved traders on the other has left a bad taste in the mouth of many. The unprofessional manner in which this whole mishap was handled deals a further dent to the image of the ruling government.

Skimming through the various reportages of this incident, one is hit by poignant sound bites and clips of many market women wailing with long drawn faces whereas the irate men among them chanted loudly in protest against the task force of the AMA who were brutally enforcing evacuation. Though their motive may be laudable, the manner in which it was carried out leaves much to be desired. Their action defeats the whole purpose of the exercise because they were regarded as antagonistic and insensitive to the plight of the suffering masses. As has been reported earlier this week, discussions are ongoing between the traders and government officials to come to a peaceable agreement on how to resolve this crisis.

In spite of these turbulent activities, this week also happened to mark an important stage in my life. I have been generously afforded the opportunity to pursue a career in line with my interest and educational background. Needless to say, i have been bombarded with a deluge of technical jargon but i remain unfazed and resolute to master this technical lingo within the shortest possible time. Acclimatizing though will not come easy and will take a bit of time, dedication and patient endeavour.

My first week has been made pleasant by the warm reception i have received from my new co-workers. Also, there is in me the impelling excitement of novelty (which I’m sure will ebb away pretty soon) to create a good impression to my superiors.

Come what may, i am determined to give my best and to excel in this new endeavour so help me God!

Soli Deo Gloria
