(Not So)Weekly Update!

,

Another working week has ended and I’m glad to say I’m gradually getting the hang of things at my new job. This week I’ve been compelled to remember some subjects and concepts I learned in school which I never thought I would apply in real life/career (damn that dreaded engineering drawing lol). I guess the pressure is good. I perceive It’ll bring out the best in me and hopefully make me a seasoned expert in my profession because i am now not only required to know these concepts by heart, but to understand its relevance and application to the work I do.

I’m also learning that to be the best at any endeavor requires investing a lot of time in gaining relevant information and experience. Being a rookie, there is the (un)natural zeal to imbibe as quickly as possible any material I come across yet I’m beginning to appreciate that indeed haste does makes waste. Just memorizing facts and figures without understanding it proves very discomfiting especially more so when you’re unable to apply that knowledge when asked by your boss. Little wonder many people do not appreciate going to school in our part of the world where learning is mostly by rote and the teacher is ready to pounce on you with a cane when you’re unable to regurgitate the facts upon teacher’s request lol

As my boss has been saying time and again, he does not send out half baked professionals and I agree because we risk such ignominy in the faces of our clientele who may be a bit knowledgeable in our field. But I have accepted that challenge in good faith though this ‘baking’ process may not be palatable nor a smooth ride, I am confident that in the end, it’ll all be well worth it. After all, nothing good comes easy and as the popular saying goes, Rome was not built in a day so I will be patient to learn and master my trade.

Again, I celebrated my birthday yesterday and I was inundated with a barrage of well wishes from friends and loved ones. Though I did nothing special or extraordinary to mark the day, I enjoyed it nonetheless. I will like to express my profuse appreciation to all for your kind words and thoughtful wishes. Thank you!

Until later, I’m still pursuing excellence!

A Week Of New Beginnings!Say "Amen"???
