And look at the helpful message they gave us this time:
"We are currently" what? Playing Texas Hold'em? Playing with ourselves? What?
Wait - I just got email that someone added me to their Friends List on LJ...surely that's what crashed the entire infrastructure. I can't even get my real friends to friend me on LJ.
Wait -this gets worse and worse. Now LiveJournal is giving a plain white page with the message:
Livejournal.com is currently unavailable for a brief emergency maintenance. We'll be up again shortly.
Thank you for your patience.
Bullllllllshit. The never do any maintenance, including the emergency kind (whatever the hell that means) at 11:45PM Eastern time - it's still between 8-9PM in CA - are you kidding me? Never.
I was in the middle of trying to make some CSS for one of my blogs actually work in IE 6 (that day will never come but I can dream) when the next thing I knew, refreshing the page just kept it loading and reloading eternally. At first I thought it was my fault - like one of my bigger coding mistakes. Next thing I knew, poof!, LJ was gone. I guess the monkeys are running around rebooting the servers.
Edit: Livejournal was down exactly one week ago, too; this is the cache page of LJ's notes amidst the anarchy that ensued. I must have slept through it - how long were they down?
Completely off-topic, but is it not a bit ironic that I'm using Firefox 2 to blog on Opera? I guess necessity makes for strange bedfellows.
