California ADD Company (Asynchronous Digital Design) Announced a few days ago, a technology of it would contribute to developing the new-type and high-performance microprocessor. Different from most existing chips, this deals with and will not need the time-recorder again a little.
At present, because of the time within the control chip of the time-recorder, therefore most microprocessors are still all synchronous, and indicate the speed of the computer execute instruction with the revolutionary number of rounds of the time-recorder per second. Though the chip at present is quicker than the speed in the past, to consume energy is bigger than the original one. In addition, the bigger the chip is, it is the higher to design, produce and maintain the cost of the chip. Because there are more and more transistor-resistor logics connected on a chip, the heat that exhale must be larger and larger, the development of the chip is just good at surmounting the restriction of its one's own condition. There are the semiconductor chip produced by the design after the improvements with the preferably equal characteristic level of chip at present, but less energy intensive, it is longer to keep period.
