Inside My Head

Welcome....

The Gospel of Judas
This got me thinking! Just the title 'The Gospel (meaning Good News) of Judas' is something for theologians to ponder. I'll post some thoughts if I can turn them into something coherent!

A new revolution has begun
I'm working on some radical changes for my blog...watch this space!

Although I'm pretty busy over the next few days...so it might be a while before you see them...

The Revolution Is Over
So the Linux revolution is over. It got slower and slower and then started crashing and there are only so many hours in the day to sit around trying to get it to work. So like a beaten dog with my tail between my legs I have returned to the much more stable world of Windows.

Maybe next time...

Conversation starter
A few years ago a friend of mine told me that bananas are herbs. I was sceptical and it led to a long, non-conclusive debate. Since then, whenever I've needed a conversation starter of the slightly random variety I have thrown it out as a comment and had many a long debate. The best was one particular argument with an Uncle who managed to spread it out over three days one Christmas. It really seemed to trouble him!

Anyway I just decided to look up the truth on the internet , and it seems to provide conclusive eveidence that they are in deed herbs. So spread the word!

Geeky post!
I've almost got my computer back up and running as I hoped it would. I now have a partition on my hard-disk, Lynux on one side for everyday use and Windows remains on the other side primarily for photgraphy purposes as all the programs I have for my camera are for Windows. I finished installing all the drivers for the Windows side today and have figured out how to get DVD's working on Linux. The only jobs to do now are to get some plug-ins working for Firefox on Linux and then everything is as it should be. Hurrah!

Roll on summer...I need to get out more!!

Uninspired
I'm getting slack with up-to-date postings on my blog. It seems to happen to most people eventually.

For now you can read about what I got up to last monday and see if you can spot my right knee in the picture!

Righteous Anger
I was listening to 5live today and they were interviewing a lady in Kent who is going to be forced to have a water meter fitted. Apparently there has been a hose pipe ban in place for the past 7 months because of water shortage. Mrs Smith (can't remember her real name) has 4 kids, who play football, so she has to wash their clothes, they all need a bath after a game, there's the washing up etc to do, all-in-all they use a lot of water. Therefore when they introduce water metering she'll have to pay significantly more. To quote Mrs Smith "I don't see why I should have to stop my kids having a paddling pool because it will cost us more now we have a water meter. I think the whole thing it really unfair!"

How narrow sighted. She'll have to pay for the water her family uses!! At least they have water!!! In Kenya people are dying because of drought.

I got so angry with Mrs Smith I had to turn the radio off.

Spot the difference!
I enlisted the help of the expert Pete Osborne to help me over come my computing problems. He discovered that the problem lay in me mistakenly typing a 2 for a Z, which was why nothing worked!

Doh!!

RIP
My computer died.

Well more to the point I killed it. Trying to be too clever. Linux and all that.

Thankfully anything of any importance was backed up.

I have resurrected it though, but can't seem to get the internet back up and running. Hmm...Pete if you're reading this expect a call from me soon!!

Wedding update 4
I had a few days off last week and have been away to my parents and Ros' to talk weddings. Many decisions have been made.

Firstly wedding invitations; it seems every little decision is becoming a big challenge, there are no easy answers. Do we want landscape or portrait cards, or maybe square ones...?

"What colour are the bridesmaids dresses?"
"We haven't decided yet." (At this point I'm wondering what the heck this has got to do with wedding invites??!!)
"Well, normally the colour on the cards is the same as the bridesmaids dresses." (Ahh, makes perfect sense to me!)

An hour later we had the raw materials to make our own. (Cards that is, not bridesmaids dresses.)

I had a fun couple of days in Rugby with my parents and brother. We were slightly spoilt for choice in the waist coat department but finally my brother and I sorted our outfits for the big day. Meanwhile Ros decided on a pattern for her wedding dress, but I know nothing about that (as it should be!)

Ros' mum made the 4 cakes that will form the basis of our wedding cake. All that cake and I can't eat a bite (egg!) Also all the wine and champagne was bought on a special valentines day offer. All that wine and champagne and I can't drink a drop as one of us has to drive away! There was also a meeting with the marquee man, who explained the difference between a marquee and a free standing structure (which is apparently is what we're having) and I saw how it would fit in the garden as it's dimensions were helpfully marked out with cricket stumps.

All-in-all a productive few days. 5 months and counting...
