There are certain rights of passage on the way to becoming a MAN. In oldern days it was things like killing your first deer or chopping your first tree.
Today I completed a modern equivalent...changed the tyre on my car.

I'm pleased to say that it was easier than expected. So if you ever need a tyre changing you know who to call, or join the
AA (or any other breakdown service!)...it might be safer.

There are so many depressing things about the world we live in. Already, in less than a week since I've been adding text to this blog I've brought up global warming and now the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Numbers convey the magnitude and individual stories tell the struggles.
Tonight was a bit of both as Christian Aid held a world aids day service in the Bishops Palace in Wells. It was a good time to reflect. The setting was historic and conveyed a sense of nostalgic England. It was all log fires, mulled wine, anglican vicars and posh accents.
It was also poignant and challenging, overwhelming yet hopeful and a reminder that God does care.

Ros and I went walking in Wales today. There was snow. There was three hours driving to get there...the less said about that the better! There was also a toilet at the car park which was a great relief...not much to say about that either!
The purpose of our walk (other than having a good day out) was to get to the Sgwd yr Elra waterfall. What's so exciting about this waterfall I hear you cry????
Apart from being a fairly spectacular waterfall in its own right, it also has the distinction of having a footpath that takes you right behind the cascading water, like some mythical wonderland. It was truly amazing!
The sound and force of the water crashing in front of you was incredible. I imagine in summer there are droves of tourists, but today there was only us. And as the snow was melting I imagine more water than an average summers day. It made what had been a really good day unforgettable.
And there were Rocky bars for lunch...what more can a man want...?
Along the way we also a couple of the most unusual trees I've ever seen. Not unusual in terms of great trunks, huge root systems or interesting markings. No the first tree had started to grow and then turned ninety degrees and was growing horizontal, parallel to the ground!
The second had done an interesting loop-the-loop with its trunk before heading up towards the light...weird!
A very good way to spend a day off!

Climate change seems to be considered a scientific fact now. What that means in political terms is less clear. Do we build more nuclear? Do we get rid of cars? What are the answers?
I don't have a clue...but our politicians need to be doing more, reacting quicker and making some tricky choices. So to encourage them along the way a few people are going on a
march
and
rally
in London this weekend. I'll be there. So expect some blogging action, maybe a pic or two and I have no doubt that it'll be freezing!
At the mo leaders are meeting in Canada to talk about this issue. A musical hero of mine, Mr Yorke, had something to
say
about it. Also, at the risk of sounding obsessed(!) you can hear and see him talking about climate change over

A meeTing down in exeTer and the travelling there and back taking up most of the time. BUT I did find time at lunch today to take a series of pictures on my phone that I've stiched together to show the view. It was as much to test posting picture as anything else.
This evening I was at my phoTography course. one fascinating fact i learnt was that apparently it is illegal to take a photo of anyone in france that you dont know without asking their permission first. so you've been warned!
2morrow I'm going walking in wales. muchly looking forward to it

It seems very arrogant to have a blog. Like who wants to know whats going on in my life, who wants to read about it, who wants to hear those rambling thoughts that triiiiiccccckle through my head?
So why did I boTher? Just seemed like a better idea than online shopping I guess...who knowS there might just be something of interest, and I'll add some pretty pictures tokeep everyone happy and smiley
