I want to put my journal online

I have kept a written journal for the past 3 years. I guess you could call it a blog but it’s on paper not the internet. That is about to change. I can’t do the paper thing anymore and I admit a large part of me is ready for other people to read my thoughts. The small part is still yelling at me telling me that I will embarrass myself but I’ll just tune him out. I have friends that do the blog thing online and they all use Dreamhost as their hosting website. I have read their blogs from time to time and their websites have never been down so I think I’ll go with them. Dreamhost seems to be the best bang for my buck anyways. I am going to be super nervous when I make that final click that makes my blog available for the whole wide world to see.

Have you considered that knowing your writings will be public might inhibit what you write? As long as you keep your log private, for yourself only, you have no inhibitions about what you write and you can read your own posts later to remember your true thoughts, but if you put everything in a blog, then in the future when you write you may be influenced by that. You will start to type something, then think, hmmm..., other people are going to see this, maybe I should word it differently or leave it out.

If you want a convenient way to record your thoughts, you can set up a blogger (blogspot) blog and set the controls so only you can see your own blog. It is free, and allows you to type rather than write on paper.
