Happy to report have managed to get everything I want runnig on the eee, opera, gimp, and some other stuff i wouldn't have even considered before. I have opera syncing nicly between a number of machines and can even remember my favourite skin to re-install every time i turn the laptop into a brick (fiddling with too many variables can kill your Linux pc children so be careful).

Quiet happy with myself. Having just bought an Asus EEE 701, I managed to change the default web browser to Opera (recommended because the full screen function is full screen not an attempt like Firefox). Pleased because this means not only installing the software under Linux but also successfully editing the XML that runs the desktop.

Shame I can’t get the damn spell check to work properly or work out how to put GIMP on the thing (working on these two at the moment).

I now Sync my opera between the home machine, my laptop, and my work PC.
