Oleg's Blog

What will happen in 13 days?

, , ,

I suddenly realized that my blog slowly transforms into a collection of funny (or maybe not) videos awww It's mostly because of the lack of time and... my laziness Homer: Doh!

But don't even think that I am active somewhere else at the time – I even deleted my Facebook account today cause there was nothing interesting there for me. A *LOT* of people trying to collect as many "friends" as possible monkey I think it's totally wrong concept. Maybe it's because we have a slightly different meaning for a word "A friend" in Ukrainian/Russian (and I guess in most other Slovenian languages). Friend for us is something that would be *Real* friend in English. And we have a separate word that stands for *a person I know* (that is the same as Facebook friend). But seems like the new generation loses the real meaning of that powerful word. And I feel sorry for them :frown:

That's why I have just a few Friends and *A LOT* of people I know. Some of them I know better, and some – worse, but... Can't call all of them my Friends, sorry, even though almost all are truly great people! That's why I prefer not to add people to my friends list without knowing them more closely

Well, anyway... I went too far  So the question stands: what will happen in 13 days?

Today morning I got an e-mail from Newtek with the subject "LightWave 3D" that contained mostly just one image: that guided me straight to their countdown page:Looks weird, huh? Using LightWave for quite some time I've noticed that Newtek is very original company and even reminds me Opera in some ways Homer: Doh! I went straight to their forums and saw a topic where lots of people were already doing some deep investigations :sherlock: . Some people (including me) noticed that the word in the middle looks like TEN (that should be the next major LightWave version to come out) and some people thought that the last word is actually "LIGHTWAVE". But the most geeky folks there found that those symbols are from the Star Wars alphabet (Aurek-besh), just flipped backwards! So they started their decoding  . After few suggestions they came up with this:

DLOESENHT EHT SSONC
(R)

KOLLOF OT ENOM

Uh ... probably need to flip this:

CNOSS THE THNESEOLD

MONE TO FOLLOW

Uh ... looks like some of my N's are R's.

CROSS THE THRESHOLD
MORE TO FOLLOW

Sooo... That's all? Let's just wait for "more"?? :wait: No! Even more geeky and inpatient guys dug even deeper and found the hidden link to this message.php page that says: "You are just the kind of person we like - more to follow." :D

Mmm! That's getting more and more intriguing!! What else can be hidden there? What can we wait from Newtek? I think it's going to be the release of the new and totally rewritten (the address says "core") LightWave 10. And taking to the count that there were no big releases for quite a while – it should be something really amazing! Well, can't wait to see it! Hope the answer is not "42" :D I'll keep you inform to any new information I'll gather chuck norris

Hahaha! No, I won't p: There's even my teacher in my friend list there :D

But anyway, we'll talk a bit more about that when I come to Moscow

Olga 23. January 2009, 10:08

I hope so, Oleg!

I am honestly getting annoyed with English people calling everyone their friends! Friend is a strong word in English as well - they just forgot about it - they have got this other word - acquaintance - but they just stopped using it years ago - how silly!

Oleg 1. February 2009, 20:20

Hm... Acquaintance... Honestly – I never heard this word before :frown: Yeah, quite silly, agree. Maybe there's going to be a new definition for "online friend", don't know

Olga 2. February 2009, 09:24

Hello, on-line friends!

Julka 2. February 2009, 17:21

Hello:) I think that this suits few of us actually - I got to know here plenty decent and cool people. Like nowhere else in the web. myOpera is a bit different to all the other places like that!

Oleg 2. February 2009, 20:31

Ow Julka, you're so right saying that! That's what we all love about Opera browser and it's community. There's something special with them. They might be not so cool and feature-rich as other competitors, but... It's all about people using them, like you, Olga and lots of others p:

Olga: sorry, can't find the time to post about our meeting in Moscow and upload the pictures :frown: Didn't even watch them yet...

Olga 3. February 2009, 06:07

Oleg, but I haven`t asked about photos yet!

Can`t wait to see them though!

I am going to write some words about our meeting too... but I lost a photo that Ilya sent me!:frown:

I just now came across this post (and hello by the way, cool stuff!) and I know exactly what you mean. Even on Facebook my friends (I'm American) are telling me to add people I have not even said hello too, how strange!

Star wars fonts.. *geek shudder* I do tech support but lightwave looks cool, maybe someday I'll get to play with that software, thanks for posting this, interesting!

Oleg 27. June 2009, 08:18

Hehe  Actually, I switched to modo (http://luxology.com). It's a great application. Not as advanced as Lightwave, but way more easy and fun to use.

awesome! I'm holding out for a trial version  . I love looking at these images, gorgeous!
