I had to use Godane's version
SliTaz 4.0 RC2 nor the cooking version worked for me, I can't tell why ; SliTaz's official website
is so confusing.
I can't use tazpkg command to update because it downgrades all my pre-installed packages to a point that the system becomes nearly the same as RC2 version that is to say
- No sound : ATI SB Card with Realtek ALC660-VD
- No wifi : Atheros AR242x/AR542x
- Bad graphic driver (wrong resolution) : ATI Mobility Radeon HD2400
- No LXDE panel
That forced me to reinstall the system.
I can't tell why there were no check like :
pass or prompt user;

How can I configure my own keyboard shortcuts to launch my favorite applications, is this OpenBox related ?
I assume that the desktop screen is managed by pcmanfm -d but I can't select desktop icons with the keyboard and how can I create my own shortcut icons ? I had to create shell scripts placed on the desktop as shortcuts icons : a pretty ugly way.
Sometimes, we can't escape from prompt or popup-styled windows by pressing 'ESC' and sometimes, we can't validate by pressing 'ENTER' (eg after having entered the wifi key).
Keyboard shortcuts don't work well with mpg123 -C (<, >, +, -, up, down).
In the shell, if I take an history command then ctrl+w then ctrl+c, and then reconsult the history, the modified command is still truncated.
How can I add entries to the pcmanfm contextual menu for chosen extensions in order to propose actions.
localhost:82 is unavailable even with my root login/password.
The wifi connects to any opened connection when my main connection is down ; I couldn't find any solution to disable this auto-connect behavior.
Fonts and aliasing : I miss the way fonts were rendered under Windows. I find chars ugly (blurred, having blots) and I can't tell why (freetype ? truetype ? aliasing ? dpi resolution level ?), I will try to change the fonts.NOT IMPORTANT ISSUES
Switching to root in a console looses the current path.
Drag and drop files from pcmanfm to Geany don't open them.
When opening/saving a file under Geany, I was used to have a field in which a path could be entered and autocompletion enabled.

Before having configured the wifi connection, wlan0 is not in the list proposed after clicking on the network icon near the clock.SOLVED ISSUES
If no sound : open alsamixer (use the arrows and press 'm' to mute/unmute).
To install slitaz with the slitaz-installer you need a live cd or an ISO mounted on /media/cdrom. Copy the ISO to a usb key (the live one or another) and mount it :
mount -o loop slitazIso.iso /media/cdrom
The system clock is not good with initial Europe/Paris (in /etc/TZ) (DST not took into account). I tried
but the time is lost at the next restart. The solution was
#ln -sf /usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe/Paris
this may need a restart even though I don't understand the difference with the initial version of the file.Halt
leaves a black screen (does not switch off) but I've already experienced that with other distros/computers. The proper command seems to be poweroff
. I hope this is not harmful.
The keyboard shortcut Win+e is a good idea but the opening window is not on top : edit /etc/xdg/openbox/rc.xml (the global) or ~/.config/openbox/rc.xml (your personal). In the applications tag, add :
. The focus option is responsible for bringing back the window to front and the decor tag is for disabling the edges (optional).
To see if this works :
If you don't know how to or can't edit those files, the workaround is to repeat the 'e' key. Win-e-e will bring the window on front.
You can see that there is an entry like
in rc.xml which is the configuration of the shortcut.
A way to solve this issue was to run run obxprop (installed with openbox) or xprop (can be downloaded as a tazpkg on slitaz.org) and to point the window. The WM_CLASS part of the result is what is needed as the name argument of the application tag (see original rc.xml for examples). I can't tell why this solution uses the focus tag instead of <layer>above</layer>.
Note : openbox will take either the global or your personal rc.xml config file into account, not both. My advice is to copy the original to a personal one to be edited.
