Mother's Day Shock

Well, I just got a real shock for Mother's Day. My son & I got up & went to early Mass this morning - well, actually the 2nd Mass - the earliest one is waaaaay too early! After that, my son took me to the Mother's Day Luncheon, and then we stayed for the CFC's local General Assembly. Once that was over, we went home. Everything going to plan so far!

Once we were at home, I booted up the computer & turned on the softphone in preparation for the long-awaited call from my hubby. He called me on my cell phone to find out what time I'd be home & to tell me that it would be a while before he could use his computer.

A few minutes later my cell phone rings again. It's my husband who tells me that he has to tell me a knock-knock joke. I'm bewildered because it's long distance for him to call me from the base using his cell phone, but I just go along with it to complete the call asap. The conversation goes like this:

"KNOCK KNOCK"

"Who's there?"

"OPEN"

"Open who?"

"OPEN THE DOOR. I WANT TO COME IN."

I had heard a noise outside just around the time my phone rang, so I opened the door & there he was!

What a shock!

Now I have to figure out what to do first after my son lets go of him! No suggestions, please!

I've got him home for 2 weeks before he has to go back.

SHOCKED!

Wow! Talk about a shock!

Yesterday afternoon, as I was planning all I needed to do in preparation for my husband's return today, my Mother called & asked me to come over & help her with something - but she wouldn't tell me what. I thought - OK - Maybe this would be a good opportunity for me to have a nice long bath (since we don't have a tub at our place).

Anyway, I got to her place & she suggested that I have my bath first. Great! My Dad played with my son & I had a nice relaxing bath.

Next, I asked again what I could do. I found out that I was staying for supper & that someone else was coming too, but she wouldn't say who.

Next thing I know, I have a text message on my phone from my husband! I thought to myself. That's odd. I guess he got some more internet access. Then the doorbell rang.

I went to the door & there he was! A day early - & with flowers!

I nearly collapsed into his arms. I hung on so tightly, and then I started to cry. I was a bit shaky for probably an hour after that.

Once I had enough hugs, I went out back & closed the door behind me. When I had my son's attention, I opened the door, and watched as my son's face lit up & he ran to my husband saying, "Papa! Papa! You came back!" He had been fearful that his Papa wasn't coming back; despite my constant reassurrances. He had decided not to trust me - at least on that issue.

I think I'm still feeling a little bit shocky. He's really here, & it's really him, but it's been long enough that I'm going to have to get used to things all over again - as is our son (who didn't want to sleep in his own bed last night). We're planning a date day - maybe Monday since it's a holiday. I wonder if my girlfriend (who offered to watch our son) has any idea what she's in for.

WELCOME HOME, SWEETIE!!!

PRECIOUSNESS

My darling baby boy (ok he's almost 4) always surprises me.

Today he came looking for me, and when he found me he said, "Mama, I want to talk to you." and hugged my leg. Once he had my attention he said, "Mama, I yuv (love) you!", and then once I responded in kind, he pranced away happily to find his Papa.

I love my little guy so much. He brightened up the day of his poor sick Mama who has been all too cranky. (Sinus infections are really annoying!)

HAPPY 'VERSARY!

, , , ...

What an amazing week so far!

Mom came home from hospital yesterday - yay!

Last night we had a lovely class at RCIA, and I sent my friend home with Christmas presents for himself (Arda), his wife (Carolina), and their lovely baby daughter (Hannah).

Today Carolina called me to thank me for the gifts. She told me that it was especially fitting that they opened their gifts today because it is their wedding anniversay - 10 years!

Naturally, I wished her a "Happy Anniversary".

My darling 3-year-old, not-especially-talkative-on-the-phone son was sitting beside me, and he said in the direction of the phone "Happy 'Versary". He's just too cute! He even repeated it to make sure Carolina heard him.

My friend was touched, and I felt extra happy for all of us.

Here's to many more years of happy marriage for Arda & Carolina, my very dear friends!
